Hi fellas,
I'm reasonably familiar with BKK and the scene, but no expert. I have all of October I'm going to spend in Thailand and perhaps some time in Laos and Cambodia (traveling around by bus or train).
I was thinking of taking a Thai girl with me. I figure if I take a freelancer I won't have to pay a daily bar fine (but with greater risk too). I was thinking of finding a freelancer who speaks reasonably good English (otherwise I think single syllable conversations would become boring after a few days).
I was going to have a look at Angels bar at Nana and the Grace hotel after 2am. Any other places? Any other advice?
This is fairly subjective, but I was hoping to pay around a 1000Bhat a day. Any thoughts?
If I can't fine a suitable girl, I will go on my own and see how I fair in Laos and Cambodia, but from what I hear it is quite difficult to meet the girls and to get them back to your room in those countries.
I'm a 30 year old Aussie and would be interested in meeting up with some board people. I see there are some regular bars for board locals. Reply to this threat if you might be interested in meeting up for some ales in October.
I also need to book a flight to Phuket for a few days on the beach, any travel agency recommendations in BKK?

For Cambodia it doesn't make sense to take your girl from thailand. M not sure about Laos. Pattaya has so many beer bars I would try there for long term companion and m sure it is cheaper than bkk

A thousand baht per day is a good sum for LT. Of course that is cash, and you will also buy her all the food and not deduct.
This happy poster would also recommend to buy you're honey some new underwear,(you pick it out with her!) a bikini or bathing suit for the pool, and some new clothes as well. Accessories such as sunglasses, and bracelets, etc. are ridiculously cheap, and your babe will treat you like a king throughout your trip.

Thanks for your recommendations. I too will remember this for my October trip. Language is real barrier in Thailand. But Pattaya girls do speak good english . Road side Beer bar is the only choice or all the beer bars ?

Thanks for the Pattaya tip IBA and on buying underware et al Thin White Duke.
I think I'll head to Pattaya to see if I can find a girl for my travels. If I take a beer bar girl for 10 days, is that 10 x 500 Bhat bar fine, plus a 1000 a day on top of that for the girl? I'm there for a month so I'm on a budget and have to factor in travel, accommodation and food for both of us. It should be awesome though to have a LBFM for an excursion to northern Thailand and Laos.
Any recommendations on bars in Pattaya to find freelancers? I was in Pattaya last year and there were mostly beer bars and go go bars from memory.

This raises a good point about long term rates for the girls.
If youre staying in a hotel, the one month rate is substantially lower than the daily rate.
Should we not then practise the same when it comes to the girls' rates.
I would not pay a girl 30,000B for 30 days but try and negotiate for something lower.
Keep it real, y'all.

I understood that barfines at beer bars are only THB 200 per day/night .......
Plus if you plan to take a girl for a longer time (7 days up) you usually can negotiate a weekly bar fine ...

I have to have a look at an itinerary and travel times in Thailand and Laos, but I'd be at least looking at 10 days, so I'll be trying to get a weekly rate.

PS Anyone recommend a hotel in Pattaya similar to the Flipper House, but with better views? One preferably with a room safe?

My last long time short time librarian assistant was three weeks in town and found at the world famous "Marine Disco", freelancer hang out on Walking Street in Pattaya. We spent about 6 days together which is probably my world record.
Go about 12-1:00Am after a few shortime barfines from the go-gos and stand around looking pathetic and lonely and soon enough some honey will sidle up for the wham bam. Or continuously circle the dance floor, stopping only for beers at the bar. I guarantee you will find a honey to take for the night, and no barfine whatsoever.
Same goes for Nana Disco in BKK, and my beloved Thermae Cafe. So take notes boys and go for it.....

The Diamond Beach Hotel is where I stayed last trip, though no in room safe, there is one at the desk. The place is old, and the rooms are about marginal, but for 1000 baht, I got a wall of window over looking the bay, and very girl friendly and the best part was that the hotel is right in gogo territory in the middle of Walking street. Very convienient. I'll be there in mid to late Sept. and you can buy me a beer.
