Hey guys, need your help here. Perhaps by compiling a list of useful and informative threads which answers most of the newbies questions, they can refer to this list first before asking repetitive questions. What do you think of this idea. That way, the search engine needn't be invoked.

BK - I hear you but at the same time, how does one define "useful" and who knows what a newcomer would think of as being useful?
I think you have already done as much as you possibly can. You have provided very specific topic sections that people should be able to look into for what they are interested in and you have even provided a newbies section for people to freely post and create new threads as they will yet even given that, there is a new thread about a bar in Pattaya started in the Misc. Girl section.
I am not blaming the person who started that thread even though he is no newbie but more so, there is only so much YOU can do and I think you have done enough.
The problem here is that YOU do not whine enough! ;)We have a number of members that whine about this and that but does it really cause them anymore actual work or effort to deal with what they are whining about? NO! When you have to move threads or connect two different threads does that cause you more work? YES!!!!!!!!!
But, maybe I am being too hasty. When you say "Useful" thread, what do you mean by that? Could you give some examples? Who would decide what is useful and what is not and who would then compile a list of such threads?
All that having been said, what is so bad about using the Search function? If people have trouble navigating around and using a computer if given instructions as to how to do so, how the hell are they going to deal with the LOS even if they could possibly absorb all the information available on this board?
I think giving people the benefit of the doubt in having enough intelligence to RTFD is good and maybe making it impossible to join the forum until they have at least shown the ability to use one of the most important features of the forum is a good idea. It is impossible to create any website or board forum that supports the least common denominator. I know it is a bitch for you to deal with maintaining this site and you can not imagine how much respect and admiration I have for you to take on this task but some times there is only so much you can do.
Another idea. Instead of trying to educate the newbies, which is never guarenteed to work, how about educating the long time board members in how to deal with newbies who go rampant out of ignorance?
Case in point, instead of going off on someone for starting a new thread when the question has already been addressed elsewhere, one could "simply" do the search that the newbie should have done and list the links that come up. I know you have done this a number of times as well as a number of us as well AND, I know it is no simple matter. But, IMHO, I don't see any fool proof method to guarentee proper use of the board without social pressure as well as social support being used. Although it may be a digital and Ethernet one, this is a community.
I know I have wandered all over the map in this post but how can one deal with organizing and maintaining a community that includes members from almost every country on the face of this earth? Laws, rules and regualtions only go so far, the rest is up to the community.

Nice idea.
However, as I said in a former post, it gonna be difficult cos even after finding the thread there are some guys who f_cked up several of them by feeding non-sense discusssions.
Anyhow, I think that quite a few threads are not really spoiled and could serve as a compulsory read for NEWBIES.
I will search for some threads and will send you the URLs I find for your consideration....

pinga, no problems. Just locate the threads that you think would be helpful to a newbie in way of answering a newbie question, and I will edit out the fluff and lock it. I will then create a reference page that lists this thread and link it from the main page of the forum for every newbie to locate easily.

YEP! Thailand also has a Thai-Hispanic Association and they use to meet regularly at fancy places with incredible entrance fees. Well, for me one meeting was enough.
I met many many many many people throughout these years but only a bunch out of them are considered my friends. It is difficult to believe but, apart of the p4p common interest the members have, there are persons with a private and personal life behind the AVATARS. I discovered that there is a real name behind those icons and in most cases excellent people eager to develop a real friendship. I love this. This is one of the reasons why I love so much the FORUM created by BK and how painful it'll be to leave it after some time....
Finally, you could realise after reading my posts that its sad for me to see useful threads becoming hard to read cos of the non sense comments that eventually turned the thread itself into a mess. IMHO fun and sarcasm is good sometimes within the threads but the abuse of it is something I particularly dislike....but that's me.
In regards to the compulsory reading I think you refer to BK's request to help him collectying useful threads (URLs) that may address the common inquiries of the NEWBIES. BK said he will screen the info and delete the fluff from it. I think that's a good idea and I am working on it....
