anybody else feel we need a travel section on this board?

I suppose a bit of info is gathered in the 'money' or 'anything else' section, but I think i'd be usefull with a dedicated section to all travel/transportation related stuff in/or to from LOS

e.g. right now excellent flights deals from europe to LOS can be had flying in may/june time as low as EUR400!

what do you think BK and bro's?

Keep it up

chilli, that sounds like a good idea.

I will keep that in mind when adding more forums. As you can see, the forums list is getting very long... but this forum is very related, so it could be worth the time to consolidate all the travel threads into this section.

For what it counts, I agree 100%.  I hope this will encourage more people to take the plunge and actually see the places everybody is always talking about.

For starters, I've seen many stateside RT fares offered at $700 or less after taxes and fees.  In a few rare cases I've seen those same fares at around $575, but those usually only last a couple days at most.  Obviously, if you're on the west coast then you can find sub-$500 RT fares on a regular basis.

If fares are important to you, but you're flexable about dates and times, then I strongly recommend you setup a basic "my.yahoo.com" account and just add the ticket fares window.  Then you can go in and add a nearly endless list of departure and arrival locations.  These are then cross-linked with http://www.travelocity.com and the rates appear in near real time.  In all honesty, I've never seen them change more than once per day, but with $100+ swings per segment in a single day, there's plenty to keep track of.  Please note, TMK this only applies to coach travel.  Business and first class prices are not part of this service.

seems like the US are keeping up ok with the cheap fares & thanks BK for considering my suggestion
actually I used to book a bit with travelocity a few years back, but these days their deals(at least from europe) seems to have downhill or perhaps the competitors have just been doing an even better job?

As I mentioned in another thread I got a good deal through http://www.skyauctions.com. RT airfare to BKK from Virginia for $750 plus tax. Not bad at all. Being that it's an auction site you may be able to luck out and get it cheaper depending where you are and how your luck is.

SB; You said: "Obviously, if you're on the west coast then you can find sub-$500 RT fares on a regular basis. "  I am looking, and can only find; Through Travelocity, fares after taxes etc... just under $600.00.  Got any secrets regarding getting the sub $500.00 fares?
