dotcom, when I entered in in the jedi brotherhood, I made EXACTLY a throughbreed newbie question as my first post. Only because I did not know how the forum works, I found the answer easily later.
That's why I see no reason to bash the newbies, I have made the same mistakes by myself.

JR -- Just thought I'd give you a  for how helpful you've been with newbies, in terms of both how often you respond and the info you provide (usually with a spot on link to an informative thread). This has been particularly timely with the recent influx of newbies. Good on ya!

Without the noobies, the forum would whither and die (Also been said before).
Athough I don't consider myself an expert on LOS, I enjoy using my personal experience to help out the noobs.
Some members just lay in wait for the noobie question, then jump out and pounce on them.
Of course, there are always exceptions. If the questions is absolutely ridiculously stupid, I just don't reply. If noone replies, they'll probably get the message.

When I first got here - some jackass posts some self-effacing crap about how much he loves the forum. He then goes on to ask questions which could have easily been answered by himself with a bit of exploration.
Short version - too lazy to do research - not using the forum as it was intended.
Legit questions will receive legit answers. Agree with Brack - a few like doctor death are positively corrosive in their disdain of anyone they consider beneath them. That's when the nastiness comes out.
I think JR has a good approach on dealing with the newbies oft asked questions, but I also agree with.com on recent posts not being looked at by the newbies. If someone requests information because of an old post OK, but I would draw the line when someone asks a question about TGs in the FR sections (and yes that has happened). That is a newbie asking for "UTFSE" reply.
