Actually in all truthful honestness, Dimebag was once the proud owner of the moniker Diamond. This was of course primarily during the pre-Anselmo/Cowboys From Hell era which produced such wonderful power metal/glam rock "gem" releases such as "I Am the Night" and "Projects In The Jungle."
During that early 90's era it was customary for glammers to give themselves cute monikers to help draw in poontang from rabid road rats.
However over the years ol Diamond got more and more into that delectable substance which grows freely from the earth, immortalized in that classic little ditty "Sweet Leaf" by Black Sabbath...wacky tabacky, that is. So much was Diamond's love for that sweet herb, among other recreational substances, liquid and otherwise, that he picked up the edgier, rawer sounding name to fit Pantera's Cowboys From Hell persona..Dimebag.
Besides...with such a troupe of badasses such as the Cowboys From Hell, the name Diamond surely would not fit...unless they were an act akin to the Village People.

So, does this mean the moniker "nickel bag" is not "copywrited". And what are the dangers of offending someone if I take this name? And isn't Soi Diamond named after this guy?

I almost forgot about this thread. Surely the name "Nicklebag" can be used, however the person who chooses to use this moniker must be prepared to face the highly motivated and dedicated fans of the late Dimebag, and perhaps even fans of 50 Cent, who will most likely label such person as a "wannabe".
Soi Diamond was in face named after Neil Diamond after setting the first barfine record for one of the bars in the area. Legend has it he barfined 20 gals one evening at the same time and hauled them all back to his hotel room. He obviously had a great time with all 20 of those ladies, but it was two of them who went above and beyond the usual call of performance for the dirty deed.
Mr. Diamond was so smitten with these two that not only did he barfine them for the rest of his stay in Thailand, he paid the mamasan the barfine amount so these 2 ladies could accompany him for the rest of his Asian tour where they were treated like high classed queens in public, and back alley street tramps behind hotel doors.
At the end of the tour, after sending them back to their homeland, Mr. Diamond decided to pen a couple of songs in their honor because they had brought them so much joy. Neil went so far as to name the songs after them, using the names they were using at the go go bars at the time.
In a way, these 2 ladies brought, and to this day, continue to bring a lot of joy to millions the world over as these 2 songs Neil Diamond wrote and named after them became two of his biggest sellers of all time.
What were these songs???

And BTW, there is a story about a dame he met in Suskatoony, Texas back in the late 60's who had a went by the name of Cracklin Rosie...but as Neil found out one early morning after coming down from the previous night's drunkfest of whiskey and moonshine, she turned out to be a he and Neil was aggressively looking for a different place to be.
And don't even get me started on the events that led to the creation of the song "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon."

Actually Soi Diamond was named after the famous inventor of viagra, Diamond Legs McGee, who wanted to call it Soi Blue Diamond but the city objected because the name was too long.
