10k Baht a month for an apartment.... and I will tell you it will be a one room piece of shit.
You obviously have no clue about the rent of apartments. 10K gets you a decent apartment. The base price of the apartment I live in is THB 3,200 and there are many apartments in this category.
I make more than $1000 a month, but could afford two apartments (in Bangkok as well in Pattaya) at the same time.
I don't whore around and don't drink. That helps.

well I can say factually I would not live in a 10k Baht a month shit hole in BKK. Maybe it's ok for you, but not for me. My last apartment was 21k Baht a month and I still considered it a shithole. It was on Soi Rangnam. 2 rooms. 2 bathrooms. f***ing piece of shit.
I kept the apartment so I would not have to drag a suitcase around. Kept it full of my clothes and girls. A long term place to stay for me? No f***ing way.
When I do stay in BKK I like to stay at apartments, even today.... I prefer them over hotels. Centre Point has a few properties I like and also Oakwood.
Like I said, to each their own. But if you are happy in a 3k Baht a month room, God bless you. My personal standards are very different.

You probably need at least 60-80K to have a fairly decent lifestyle here. Of course, that's too difficult for myself right now. When I first started living here (12 years ago)... I was only getting 40K, but my kind boss paid for my studio apartment (~12K) plus I accompanied him for evening entertainment with clients where he paid for all the drinks, so I didn't have to pay for anything, so my 40K went a long way.

Ate another main meal dinner at 250 baht = 7500 baht
Drinks (non alcholic) 3000 baht
Essentials 5000 baht (7/11 ) etc
Entertainment 4000 movies /newspapers / eye candy (looking at a Go Go or two)
Alcohol bought from retailer 4000
Alcohol in bars 10,000
Short time 5000 (equals 10)
Long time 15,000 (equals 10 with bar fine and lady drink) Beer bar only
Extras 5000 unforseen stuff
Visa Runs 4000
total a month
77,500 baht
