So when does one stop being a "newbie" and is considered trustworthy enough to create new threads in anything other than bkk field reports and newbie questions?
Or do we have to enter a rite of passage for that to occur with such rite deeply clouded in mystery??

Forget it, you should cherish your newbiness for as long as you can. If you cannot bother to read the rules as clearly stated by BK, why bother trying to be anything as sullied as a full member.
Anyway losing your newbiness involves hot wax, a logical discussion with DG, a Smegmatization, a Krypto monkey introduction, and, well, you have to meet JHJ and clean out his closet.

Rules????? There are RULES in here????? Actually, the rules that I viewed don't say anything about why a "newbie" can't create a thread. It just says to check before creating a new thread otherwise there will be "consequences".....
I actually get the "joke (s) " about the rite of passage - but doesn't help me much....
All I want to do is be able to create a new topic in the correct thread - I have no aspirations to slip into the elite circle of a "full member" (can you detect the pun?).

You will never stop being a Newbie as there's a first for everything, live in a city all your life but turn down a street you've never ttravelled before and your a Newbie.
This will go right up till your dead as I'm sure you've never died before.
Dont worry about F-King up on here we've all done it, I do it every time I try to post after being on a bender down the pub. What looks good through blurry eyes looks terrible in the cold light of day.

Brother Isee, unless the rule has been changed, all new members are given the title of virgin when they join and only have certain privileges. This lasts for the first 50 posts. Once you've made 51 posts you earn a promotion to the next level and full membership. Hope this helps  . Peace

If there is any reason to discuss the deconstruction of identity that ppl try to create in distinguishing themselves from being a "newbie" compared to a "full member" - you would be a good example of what a joke it is!
