I'm just curious; How many have used BTF as a source of information BEFORE coming to LOS or after only one brief trip?
Like many of us, I've often thought how great it would have been to have had this resource when I first came, and I would be interested in hearing from any Newbies (or former Newbies  ) who feel they benefitted from things they learned and even some specific examples.
On the other hand, I recently read some posts from someone who was diligently inquiring about every single possible thing they would loke to know (nothing wrong w/ that of course) and I wondered: Do you think a person misses out on anything by taking away the surprises and the adventure of discovering things through experience?
Like most things, I'm sure it works both ways; Any comments?
PS- I ask because I'm curious but I also hope this thread will wind up as something to further prove to BK that he has even more reason to be proud of his creation than he already (rightfully) is.

- fair point Mr. Joe - but would have to say personally, I wish BKK2nite/BK were up and running when I first came here in the late '90s - I know for sure I would have been far better off ; especially financially 55 ! - what about you ?

Iwasn't really trying to make any point, more looking for anecdotal evidence (I think I'm really bad at starting threads-people don't seem to get them or, more likely don't care ).
It would have been great to have all this knowledge at my disposal. Definitely could have been more efficient in my efforts to have a good time. BUT I wouldn't change a thing about the way I did it the first time; Totally ignorant, with eyes and mind wide open, brain fully engaged and nerves of steel - ready to go anywhere and try anything that seemed likely to be survivable (and even somethings that did not.).
BUT I'm noyt trying to say which way is best; As I mentioned; it depend on how you look at it IMO. If I didn't think the info provided on this board was a good thing, there are many posts that I would not have bothered to make.
(There is an interesting axiom used in personnel training that applies, but I will refrain so as to not seem to be lecturing. It has to do with how we learn by reading, watching, or experiencing and the relative effectiveness of each.)

I'm yet to go to LOS (going in mid-late Dec) and I have been using BTF to get as much info about LOS as I can

I allways have a look at forums before going to "exotic" countries such as in asia or latin america, and that was allways beneficial for me. It provides me with a kind of map of possibilities, and with the main rules of the game. And it does not prevent me from experiencing and playing my own game. It is especially valuable for short stayings when you don't have so much time to learn everything by yourself. I have enough experience of what can happen in countries that are very different from western countries, but some other people don't and may be too naive. Without relevant informations they can make big mistakes (e.g; being ripped off, fall in love with a bad girl or whatever), and for them it's even more valuable. So please keep on !

Now I guess I screwed up the post somehow, so let me make myself clear:
I AM NOT asking : Is this forum a good thing or not? I believe 100% that IT IS a good thing. I was hoping some people would point out how and why.
It's just my habit to look at both sides and be open to others who might have a different perspective, so I added the 2nd question (I shouldn't have because it has confused the issue.)
