A little bit mixed up with life here at the moment in LOS. I was thinking of moving back to OZ or maybe become a Monk. It is just a thought in the back of my mind, but sometime's it come's to the front of the head and I cannot seem to shake it away.
But I am wondering if I become a Monk, what are the advantage's/ disadvantage's. This is where my predicament lie's. What will I have to give up. Surely I can perform meaningfull task's in Soi Cowboy or Nana or perhap's walk the soi's of Pattaya through the miriad of scantily clad girl bar's.
To become a Monk, a noble profession by all count's, is to help the needy and spread the word. Just do not know at the moment what decision to make. Will I be accepted by ex-pat's, who see me walking around in orange, shaved head with an empty bowl begging for food. What will the Thai people think of me, they may see me as some sort of miracle, just don't know.
My personal belonging's in the apartment will have to go, I can sell them and the forthcoming money can be given to my favourite Wat. I am looking for answer's and the Calling is becoming greater every day.
This forum may not be the place to obtain answer's for my dilemma, but it is a start. Some of you may scoff at this idea and some of you may be able to supply solid positive comment's.

Firt things first and all that, this is not the purpose of a buddhist monk. If you really do have an interest in this area I would suggest taking some courses or at least reading some books on buddhist philosophy to find out if it something for you. However, if you are looking for 'answers' buddhism is a well trodden path. No pun intended.

There is loads of stuff to do when you become a monk but most people pick 2 path. One is the teaching and the other one is the path to Nirvana.
To become a monk you can not be married, have any one depend on you, have debt and so on you have to be clean so nothing can come and worry you in the life as a monk.
Many temple you can go and try to become a Novis dress in white and do what the monks do but not really a Monk I suggest you do that.
If you want to go so a Temple with things to do that help people I suggest you go to the HIV temple or to the temple I do the website for

There is also a old farang monk some where in Thailand you should go there to make it more easy.
