I concur.... it looks like a chicken farm. Not any got culled by the Thaksin government though. All still alive and kicking. R3 at present the only R bar I am frequenting.

i know that if one reads a million posts on this wonderful blog, all kinds of information can be discerned...but, i'd like to make a sugeestion (especially to the veterans)...is there anyway we can 'map' all the major bars (i am mostly interested in go go bars, but this cn be done for all)...and anyone who checks out these bars writes a simple and short comment: 'went to xyz bar, it sucked!', etc....this way, we have an up-to-the-minute report on all the interesting places to hang out...rather than waiting for someone to write a field report (frankly, how many people actually do it anyway?)...by the way, I know there are special sections and folders for the bars, go go bars, etc., but the problem is that most of the time the information in those sections are months and years old and one can't rely on them...especially given the rapidly changing scene in LOS...

PB, it would be easy to dismiss that as a stupid idea, but when you think about it more, it's a good idea. A really good one.
There are enough regular users who are also expats or frequent visitors that a CVA [Coordinated Venue Assay]could be done.
To be fair each bar should get triple-coverage; 3 visits on different days of the week by different people with different tastes and goals. [For example, I don't pull girls out of gogos so my perspective is not that of a prowling punter].
To keep it simple, there should probably be 5 objective criteria [bar fine, price of cocktail, lady drink, import beer, Thai beer] and 5 subjective criteria [girl's looks girl's attitude/enthusiasm, ambiance (seating, lighting, music, etc), scam factor/pushiness, this-space-for-rent] done on a simple 1-to-5 scale.
It wouldn't take much to make up small cards as 4-up on card stock. Board members could even get a password protected page to enter their data.
With only 60 go-gos between NEP, Cowboy and PP, that's 180 visits, which would take this crowd all of a week at most.
Let's do it.
