I'm afraid to say I have to agree. I just don't want the old place to die.
It got through the change of venue and still survived, and I actually thought was better for it.
It's only the 2am closing thats made it like it is now, it's as simple as that.
I still think the place,will, one day soon, come rising out of the flames and back into the place we all knew and loved, or at least I loved it.
With me it was sort of a mind thing, I always new that, what ever had happened in the day, there was always Thermae to go to, any time of night. Sort of crossing to the other side.
Many a time I've still been in there at 7-8am and the people coming in are early morning joggers after an orange juice.
Shit, I miss all that

One of my favourite hang outs is the bush bar just to the left of Ruamchit entrance.
The raised level gives a good view of the passing folks, and the girls hanging around outside Thermae

yes, grace has taken over this function now. i can remember a lot of days lately when i stumbled out of grace at 7am in the morning being confronted with unhumanly sunshine! very bad if you are pumped up with amber fluid!

Yes sunshine after a night on the piss is a truly horrific thing.
I realize grace ( you'll never see me there) has, for the time being, taken over from Thermae.
I just don't want people to forget about Thermae, believe me it will rise again, and it needs people, thats the point of the place

Cant the thermae pay M.I.B. some money so they can stay open again. Or is there some other reason this has happened??? I personaly really liked going to the thermae. Some of the best TG's i've had in LOS came out of there...

this is not a money thing it is a licence thing! they do not have the licence to stay open after 02:00 am. as far as i am aware only siam hotel coffee shop and grace hotel coffee shop have got one in bangkok, that is why they are still open after 02:00 and others have to close!

Ahhhh Thermaes...memories from 1973 when it was down the street a little but still on Sukhumvit with a massage parlor upstairs and same smoke filled room. Though now it more resembles the bar in star wars with people from all over the world. I usualy stay upstairs in the Ruamchitt Hotel....Always nice to know that there is a party in the basement. here is a link to a tribute page to Thermae's with a few links...and I do agree...it was always the plce to go to when all else closed...even back in the 70's...but with the 2 AM closings.....oh well
