Kryptonite
A good friend of mine, who's name will remain anonymous eh, recently told me that he prefered character over manners. What does this say? One can be a total Ass and still have a character that everyone likes?

I have been trying to find my character recently. I guess I am looking for opinions or definitions of what makes up "Character?"

p.s.
What's the matter friend, pussy cat got your tongue?

Hitler, Charles Manson, Abe Lincoln, Jerry Lewis, Buggs Bunny, Ghandi are all characters - pick your poison.

I know I am pretty new to the forum - couldn't resist the subject.

Character could be inherent or mentored - some of us let our enviorment dictate who we are - some of us let our families pave the path. Some of us stand alone and bow to no man nor god. To describe ones character is like desribing ones soul - it more of a being than a description. It is more described by others than what one percieves of oneself.
You can't chose who you are - you can chose your actions and beliefs and your words - its not all genetics.

Peace

From the American Heritaqge Dictionary:
Character

NOUN: 1. The combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person, group, or thing from another. See synonyms at disposition.
2. A distinguishing feature or attribute, as of an individual, group, or category. See synonyms at quality.
3. Genetics A structure, function, or attribute determined by a gene or group of genes.
4. Moral or ethical strength.
5. A description of a person's attributes, traits, or abilities.
6. A formal written statement as to competency and dependability, given by an employer to a former employee; a recommendation.
7. Public estimation of someone; reputation: personal attacks that damaged her character.
8. Status or role; capacity: in his character as the father.
9a. A notable or well-known person; a personage. b. A person, especially one who is peculiar or eccentric: a shady character; catcalls from some character in the back row.
10a. A person portrayed in an artistic piece, such as a drama or novel. b. Characterization in fiction or drama: a script that is weak in plot but strong in character.

Well - inhaled in order do prepare a "deep" response to the interesting subject opened by Krypto but after the first reply I better breath out again... what is there to add?

So I guess Bin-laden is also a character then - along with the rest of the bunch mentioned by Calzoid. If that is true - then most of us, hopefully a vast majority, are NOT characters?!? Now I feel sad - what AM I then??!

How about this scenario:

You have had way too many cocktails but you still realize the girl you are talking to is a dog. However, she has just rubbed your 'johnson' for the fiftieth time in rapid back-n-forth fashion.

Character: "Excuse me miss, but me and my little brother are leaving... alone".

Or "ok mama, I want to lick the sweat off your droopy tits back in my room or anywhere you can flop them in my face."

I can't find either definition in either a dictionary or encyclopedia.

"The best index to a person's character is (a) how he treats people who can't do him any good, and (b) how he treats people who can't fight back."

Not looking good Krypto...

There is the term having Character and the term being a Character. Both a different and both can be very negative. Up to you which you are, up to others on how they see you!

NM,

looked up character under "one beer"... only had a picture of PeeWee Herman.

However, ten beers had a link to BTF!
