While there's a heavy debate in the 'Trying to keep the site free' thread, I felt it may be worthwhile to have a thread for those of us that, as the saying goes, 'put our money where our mouth (or, our dick) is', to share why we support BTF and BK's efforts with this site.
For me, it has nothing to do with paying for bandwidth, making BK richer than Croesus, or anything between those two -- plain and simple: I support my friends, those who support me, or those who provide me with outstanding service and assistance.
BTF, and by extension BK, represents all of the above - and my donation really represents but a small token of my personal appreciation for his providing and maintaining the incredible resource that is BTF, as well as the community that has sprung up around it.
Yes, there's the occasional flame (which forum doesn't have them), as well as the occasional troublemaker (again, which forum doesn't have them) – but these are easily dealt with by just ignoring them (where's that multiple 'ignore' feature, BK  ? ), and eclipsed by the worthwhile information (both historical as well as current) shared by members, both living in LOS or as regular visitors.
I *know* for sure that I owe a LOT of what made my first trip worthwhile (and all subsequent ones as well) to information gleaned from the pages of BTF.
I have spent nearly a month before my first trip reading a lot of the BTF archives (yes, the FSE is your friend), countless FRs, and lots of threads dealing with all kinds of information from taxi prices, to scams, to hotel recommendations, etc...
Mind you, it certainly didn't prevent me from committing some of the classic newbie blunders (like, going with the first girl that grabbed me in Biergarten), but it helped me quickly upgrade from there – but it really helped:
- prevent me from falling victim to scams
- knowing the 'market prices'
- learning interesting things about Thailand
- finding out about interesting places to go
...oh yeah, and:
- *knowing* that she isn't my girlfriend (whoever she is, that day)
But aside from all of that, it comes down to one simple truth: I support my friends!

I strongly suggest that this thread only be used by posters that contributed via donations, or otherwise support BTF and BK's efforts, so it can be used as an accompanying resource to the donations list.

You could try clicking the link in his post that says donation or the one under the paypal link on the last 25 page
