Thaiprivateeye II: Banned, a sad loss for this forum, a world renowned operator in his field. A constant professional that offered incite and more important help to forum members into other areas of Thai life that many of us would not have normally known about.

Thumbs up!! This is an interesting issue to consider. Are the people who post here truly reflective of their real lives. Like you, I have not met anyone from here. I do wonder though about all of us here, about how each of the posters here would turn out in person. I fancy also that I have a fair idea of the personalities of some posters. I also admit that I could be horribly wrong.
There are some favourite posters of mine here whom I would love to meet, and I think I am going to do that someday. Some other gentlemen are interesting not because I agree with their posts (though I do sometimes) but because they seem to get everyone's goat all the time! That I think is a quality that calls for a ringside view. While some of the flaming matches here appear to be high-voltage I suspect the central characters are actually laughing in their sleeves -- and that causes me much entertainment as I sit in the privacy of my room and read BTF.
I think -- given the nature of this forum -- some of us need to develop a lot of trust in the other before getting into a one-on-one. One poster, whom I instinctively trusted from the word go, I did meet about 6 years ago. I recall the tremendous sense of "looking forward" that I had in the run-up to that meet. He suggested we meet at O'Reilly's "that green thing in the corner" of Thaniya, as he described it. He was as good as his online persona, except that he was much warmer than I had somehow imagined. We met up a few more times subsequently on my fleeting and spaced out trips to LOS till one day he vanished. Arcadius is MIA to this day.
I have met up with a few perfect strangers in LOS, sometimes at a breakfast table in the hotel I stay in, or at some restaurant or in some bar, sometimes exchanging a few words, sometimes spending hours chatting, at other times deciding to crawl across to some gogos together. These were enjoyable trysts with strangers. No names asked or, if asked, quickly forgotten in the swirl of Singha and tight asses distracting you from conversation. I have wondered if any of them could be a bro from BTF. That has added to my fascination as I try to fit them into the persona of different BTF posters.

I have not met so many members, but there is only instance that I wish I did not recall... a newly met member cursing at a girl, then shoving her to the floor.
I view his postings with a different perspective after that; always recalling the fear in the girl's eyes as she was helped with her scrapes and bruises.
