I think the key, if you're Indian, is to head out with a couple of American wingmen, to provide "atmosphere". A friend of mine is very Indian looking, but through and through American. On his first trip, we were all confused why the girls were all over us, but keeping away from him.
Then I asked the girls, and they said "no,like man india", and I explained to the girls that "he's American, same same us!" and waved him over. That broke the ice. He had no troubles for the rest of the trip.
Maybe someone should provide that as a service
