HappyFace... the only hotel I can think of off hand would be the cheap n chearful 'Prinsenhof' on the Prisengracht. I *think* backpackers use that one. If that's not it I'll ask around at work on Monday or take a drive over there and look.

As for my interests & pleasures in Thailand... they are too many to mention... food, shopping, climate, people, tolerance, beaches (pirated software, fake t-shirts, lol) etc etc. (mind you I have only visited twice but it WAS luv at first sight). I will be returning in January!!
Yep the Dutch are (generally speaking) an open, liberal tolerant bunch, and to be perfectly honest if I didn't feel that was the prevailing attitude here - then I wouldn't be here. Bit of an oxymoron maybe, but I can tolerate anything except intolerance.
As for the prostitution here... I honestly can't say I have ever spoken to a single woman who felt remotely intimitated by it. Prostitution is afterall everywhere - only here it's open. Mind you maybe that's just the circles I move in... I don't tend to associate or pay much attention to the "easy to indimidate" types. Different people experience places, things, people in so many different ways. I remember just after I had booked my first trip to Pattaya... all around me I heard horror stories about the place... to cut a long story short I loved it and didn't understand where the "it's a dump" crew were coming from. Horses for courses I suppose.

AHHHH a woman after my own heart, and welcome to this forum X. Hell it's been 16 years since i've been to A-Dam. Other than a stopover to change planes. ÝThe police used to close down all the bars and resturants at 1 or 2 am, the rolladen were lowered with all the customers still inside and then party on and on.......later slept in the park till daylight and started over again. hardly ever got back to the hotel. in those days the only people in the park were joggers and lovers.
