It was a bad experience. I was taken by Thai colleagues to a hardcore dart show, followed by another gay hardcore show. It was in the Patpong area. I was disgusted at the time. I didn't enjoy seeing live hardcore sex action between two men. When I dared to venture by my own a few months later, I went to the most well known Patpong King bars.

let's see...my first was way back in 1973. After being up all night for a farewell party (first time overseas and new in the Army), then a flight to Travis AFB, stay up all night to catch a ride on Flying Tiger Airlines (converted cargo plane) - hop to Hawaii, Guam, Okinawa, Philippines, Vietnam and finally to BKK. Get picked up by my sponsor and a crazy driver who almost gets me killed on the way in. Sponsor takes me to a bar on Patpong II where he is enamored with the mamasan. He tells mamasan that it is my first night in country and I can pick anyone I want - for FREE. Well it is the end of the month, and there are only two of us guys along with about 20 girls in mini-skirts. Didn't take me long to pick. My sponsor, mamasan, me and my new girlfried and a couple of other girls all head back to Sponsor's house and Sponsor's room-mate comes in drunker than a skunk wanting to kill me. I manage to get out, find my way to my room, put on my uniform and report for duty after being awake for about 5 days. The Air Force E-9 takes one look at me and tells me to go home, get some sleep, and come back on Monday (5 days away).. I have no idea what the name of the place was and I doubt if it has the same name now. As a matter of fact, the only place I can recall with the same name is Madrid Lounge..catering to Ex-pats and Embassy guys. anyhow...was an amazing welcome to a new country.

My first time in Thailand, my GF wouldn't let me NEAR a go-go, except a quick tour of Patpong, WAY before the crappy night market. Same-same massage parlor, BJ Bar (don't really know if one existed), HJ Bar. This was 1982...did get to wander around on later trips, but don't think I can remember any REAL go-gos (maybe a couple of places in Saphan Kwai...)
GoGo: Skip ahead to 1996: Voodoo Bar, NEP was my first 'punter' experience. BF'ed a little hunny, she left for her hometown, I shed tears in my beer. I have, BTW, an ORIGINAL Crown Group Voodoo football jersey, complete with Skull wearing Tophat! Cost me 200 baht, and I'll keep it until I die, or someone offers me a lucrative job for it...
MP: Went to Chiang Mai to see an old friend, did my first REAL MP at some fishbowl at the end of Moon Muang Rd. Very disappointing, but only because they weren't really open yet, and had a VERY small selection.
BJ bar: Star of Light!! Oh Yeah! (I'm NOT shy! Well at least at 10AM, with no other customers in attendance... ) I STILL like the place!
HJ bar: not particularly interested; don't like being swarmed.
Now, I'm wondering when/where my NEXT GoGo, MP, BJ bar, HJ bar will be...
