They administer the aid, and THEN expect to get paid... That's what I found out, in most cases. It's different if you go in for treatment - then they want to make sure you can pay. In case of emergency, the bill comes at the end.
So, she could just end up being killed by the debt - still, best be sure. If she hasn't left BKK, chances are she's lying.

...i've also got it bad...
1st trip to LOS - Nov '02
2nd trip to LOS - Feb '03
3rd trip to LOS - Feb '05 - but....my holiday was cut short  I had to return home almost 2 weeks early....!!! Only in LOS for 12 days...!!!
...missing the place so much, but already making plans for my next trip...!

I've got it very very very bad!
I just can't take only seeing LG for 10 days or so every few months, I need her with me full time! I'm starting the K-1 visa process, hired an Immigration Lawyer, and am sending the first round of paperwork to her in Laos this week. I will be visiting LG in Laos late May to early June and can maybe attend the embassy interview with her. So this is how it ends…

Best of luck to you. This is something I am also considering. I think in our situations it will be very important that we make a HUGE effort to make our tg's feel comfortable. Next week I start Thai lessons which took some work on my part to find someone to teach me Thai. I met a young Asian lady at the local market who had a friend married to a Thai lady. An older Farang who is very excited for me to meet with him and his wife so they can help me learn Thai. They are even willing to help with the process of helping to get her to America and are also going to take me to a couple of the temples in my area. Bottom line it will be a lot of work on your part to make her happy and comfortable in your country. Do not believe that just coming to America will be enough.
I see her again in May and I may see how she feels about moving here to be with me.

I am setting up classes two nights a week in English as a 2nd language at the local community college. I have also found a Lao Buddhist Temple and two Lao restaurants in the Philly area. She are has an Aunt and a few cousins on the east coast.
