You right! Economics cannot be controled under the trickle effect.
No offense, I just did not like the attacks LY made and his lack of understanding of economics. He is right to say that the market is changing and will always change.
From time to time, I will go to Nana or CM2 and pay the going rate. Sometimes, if I run out of baht, I will give the girl a $100 bill because I am too lazy (drunk or tired after sex) to change the money. I dont think this changes the martket.
However, I pay large sums of money at Carribean, Orbit, ect. to compete with local thai businessmen and other Big Spender foriegners, and that does change the market because of the trickle effect. For example, I thought about how in the 80s when the Japanese came to Hawaii and started buying all the luxury homes and hotels. They would literally drive by in a limo and point ot the property they chose, and the deal was done. The people here went into a frantic and the average home price shot up. Later on, after the colapse of the Japanese market, the home prices fell. Currently, US mainlanders have caused the prices to go up agian, because Hawaiis luxury homes are again affordable to them. And agian, median level homes have gone up under the trickle effect. Interestingly, it has been the foreign money in both cases that has caused the market to change. Our top women over here, cost too much and damand too much. We're still getting a better deal in LOS, and with the rising business in the West, foreigners will continue to drive up the prices because the trickle effect will cause all prices to change.

IMO Japanese drive up prices as they absolutely will not negotiate face to face. DFS loved their business and everybody else wondered why the Japanese were so pleased with the prices. Fortunately they have their own K'ok places in BKK (which are much more pricey than others).And they also took some notorious losses when they needed to exit the market.
Other than my sarcasm, I believe Thailand is changing forever. All prices are up... food, hotels, drinks. I know Soi Cowboy is now more expensive than 3 years ago but might that not be because of all the renovation of the bars there? There were places then that you should have considered a tetanus shot before entering.
If the dollar Baht exchange rate were still 1 to 25, it would be even worse. So if anyone gave a BG a BT 500 tip in 1997, it was US$ 20. Now it is US$ 12.50. And exchange rates don't count for the local economy. However, by rights, no falang should have tipped more than BT 300 then. And if you keep the exchange rate now, that 1997 US$ 20 should be BT 800.
And now the girls all have those mobile phones to feed!
