Pre Los must be getting to me 2, this is a copy off an email I sent to my customer today
As the software gods have deemed me worthy and have given me the inner strength and training course placebo in order to dig deep and break new ground in software effectivness. So with this new found gift of creation I have tried, nearly failled but with my last gasping breath have manged to solve the overbooked, re despatch problem that has kept the nation breath
for the last few hours, so call off the call to Mr Bill (in his private jet) he is not needed so he can return to his minor problems now.
I am exhausted, tied and hungry but I will gather myself off the floor, mop my sweaty brow and go and find a sexy girl to ease me back to life, in order that I may serve such great deeds to software and yourselves another day, oh sh_t just realised that I am not in BKK till next week!!!!

Great, I read this old thread and got paranoid again.
9 + wake-up left before next one and all I want is to get to the airport ASAP !The odd grins now and then are back and somehow things are appearing on my "checkdesk". Passport, different cards, bahts...
And what comes to paranoid thoughts, I get better after a couple of beers in the plane.

Jackrabbit, I am dealing with almost the same time frame you are - fifteen more sleeps before blastoff - and I always get nervous and antsy before an overseas trip.
This year is even worse, as I have outstanding family issues that are concerning me and will still be there when I get back (and probably worse).
I won't start to relax until the plane lifts off my hometown runway - until then I'm always worried about something happening to affect a trip that I need badly.

snowbird, You are receiving exactly the same wavelength as I am.
Boarding ( they get on me at any second ), rolling to the runway ( is the "Follow Me - car coming to stop the plane ), plane accelerates (please, do not let those turbines to slow down ) and starts to take speed for liftoff ( they still have a chance ) and the "thump" comes and we are airborne ( BASTAAAAAAAAAAAARDS, You can't catch me anymore ) and the psychotic laughter is raining from the skies !
Because we are free... !

What I do to help me make it through the weeks before departure is to set myself new, high goals in preparing myself.
For example to look better I have to improve my workout performance in gym by 10% - I know I will not achieve that until departure. Same e.g. for learning 100 more Thai words. Or revising my to-do plan due to new input from BTF. Unless this is not achieved, I should not go. Its sort of a prerequisite and helps me stay active - feeling that departure is actually to early as I cannot reach my set goal. Of course I go then, but before I knowingly cheat myself a bit - for me it works (at least a little bit).
But what do you tell your workmates, your family? I mean you certainly do not tell everyone that you are going for a 2 weeks shag-feast to LOS. What do you say to cover? It goes without saying that most will know what a single white male is going to do in Thailand, but what is your statement?

I guess I am lucky, my first trip was with wife & kids for a conference and an IT project. I worked for the most boring bunch of clowns you could imagine, so guess what? My family got to see me have lousy, boring time, with boring people who did nothing but complain about traffic, rubbish, smells etc.
Next trip, a new company - a bunch of wild men on secret men's business, cutting a swathe through beer bars, go-go bars, BJ bars, MP's having twosomes, threesomes, swapsies, with some GFE thrown in.
I just keep complaining now when I am 'forced' to go back to LOS, and every one feels sorry for me.
....but it is hard to contain myself, particularly the last couple of weeks - which is coming up.
