LY, read up on Hayek & Austrian school of economics. 
What is money, really? Is $10 you have today worth exactly the $10 tomorrow? And not just by inflation, but productivity? Suppose today the cost of a PC is $1000, 2 years from now, you could buy the same thing for $100 (inflation adjusted). So what does money really mean?
Infact, I could save as much money as possible today and hope to get a PC 30 years from now... only problem is, I will never get this time in my life back. :- ( Same thing with fun. I can enjoy for 5000 bht today, who knows, tomorrow I might be diagnosed with some terrible disease and all the money in the world cannot help me enjoy sex or parties etc. then. Scary won't you agree?

In my almost 30 years of coming to Thailand, I am certain no one lone over-generous punter has driven the p4p price up.
If somebody can show me the person, date and time that a Typhoid Harry started the prices escalating upwards, then I stand corrected.
If not, this is a wasted exercise.

Some women in the US will drive 50 miles to a discount mall, spend whole day looking and comparing prices to save a few $. The problem is while it is true they could save a few $, but the merchandise are last season ( or worse ), you get no service, the whole day is wasted ( time=$$ ?? ) and what about the gas costs that they pay to get there ?
What's my point ? If you are a local BKK resident and have too much time to kill, so you come up with this game of finding the best priced everything to entertain yourself, then I say " God bless you". But if you are a 1 or 2 weeks visitors to LOS, do you really have time to do comparison shopping ? Because your time is worth a lot more than the few hundred or thousand bahts that you may save. This applies especially to those who have a high income earning back in the West. For a upper middle class person from the west, he is worth at least a few hundred US $$/ hour. You think he is going to worry about a few dollars here and there for the girls in BKK ?
The problem with your situation, LY, is not these " high spenders " are spending too much and ruining your market, the problem is LOS have too much to offer and have become attractive enough for these " high spender" to come and visit. If LOS does not have all these other " high end " venues such as 5-stars hotels, upscale nightclubs and restaurants, world class beaches and resorts.....then these " high spender" will never have visited your " paradise". Blame it on LOS' own prosperity and it's beauty and " beauties " Hahaha ! ( borrowed from ABC )

For a upper middle class person from the west, he is worth at least a few hundred US $$/ hour.
Upper middle class is probably closer to between $50 and $100/hr and that is before tax. But the point is that to this person it is completely ridiculous to pass up a hot girl at 3000B and move to the next bar searching for one at 1500B (unless the game is what he enjoys).

correct. Its possile to find a diamond in a beer bar.
