Brothers, Thanks BK, I'm not too good at making money. Much better at spending it actually. I'm gonna have to prowl around and rack the brain for that 20% option. I could swing a studying stint at Chulalongkorn U. possibly, and work an international angle into my current graduate degree program with ease, I think. Anyway, I'm happy to report a much better day today. So much sense was left in this thread, and so much shared empathy, that I felt good to be at this place in life, having discovered the scene when I did even. I've waited long enough and learned enough patience to live outside of LOS that I should manage fine during the interim. So today, I was able to hit Walmart perusing the latest technologies in condoms (which I should probably start stockpiling now I suppose) for the upcoming trip. Later, shopping department stores for the latest threads for that 'smooth operator' look (the girl in the orange pants had come to mind). Nothing turned up, oh well, still plenty of time (61 days). Late lunch and I went by one of the Thai restuarants in town and arranged to start language tutoring as soon as I have a text in hand. (any suggestions?) Yea, things are looking up, 61 day is all. It's been nice too just to lurk about here and vicariously follow your exploits. Toto, your last posts on the boy's night out on the MP circuit was awesome. Keep up the great reporting, not to mention the great shags.

JR, that amount will depend on your own requirements. For some 100 K/month would be more than sufficient. So, let's say you want to hang out for say 2-3 years, then I would say you should have about (36 x 100K Baht) 3.6 M Baht. For me, "shit load of money" means, I don't have to care how much I have, and I don't have to think twice if I can afford it. Toto, I am still looking out for your FR on the 'machine'.

JackRabbit present... Here I am , eating this soup again. This time post-LOS blues has new form for me. I feel myself hollow and this "I am not here nor there"-feeling is stronger than ever. Unwilling to do anything, kinda just killing time. ...and somewhere in frozen forest of the north, jackrabbit rises its snout toward full moon and howls... JR

The ex-LOS 're-entry blues' are perfectly normal. We've all been there. New re-entrants can be assured that the pain eventually turns to a dull, nagging ache, but it never completely goes away. Tyler makes a good attempt, but I don't agree that living here renders LOS 'normal'. Sure, there are loads of people (Stickman being a typical example) who get disillusioned, but there are also many who come here and could never live anywhere else. Like BK, I now earn a fraction of what I earned back in farangland, but I wouldn't go back for anything in the world. Mortgage payments, pension plans, 'sensible' insurance - all that idiotic shit which passes for a life, please just take it away with my compliments. If LOS haunts you then you have a real choice to make. Face it. It should go without saying that 95% of Western media coverage of the P4P scene in Thailand is undiluted horse manure. Ignorant, salacious, willfully dishonest nonsense of the first order.

Hi four points 1. Work hard enough to have 4 x 2 week trips a year. Every time I come back and feel like you did I know I only have about 10 weeks to the next trip - thats liveable with. 2. Live in a vibrant place in your own country. I LOVE BKK and LOS but Id never swap London for it. 3. Remember living there doesn't suit everyone. I know it suits all the resident bros on here but they are the tip of the iceberg. I have two friends who lived in BK for a couple of years each - eventually came back because they quite simply got sick of all the hassle. However well you learn to handle it the constant "pressure" isn't for everyone. 4. If you really can't cope - do as BK says - just go!!

The trouble with logging on to this site after returning home from LOS is that you get reinforced what you are missing. It just makes me more 'HOME' sick.
