ok, so we at least agree that there's something going on mysterious disappearances, and there must be a reason why the cabs are suspect, not just urban legends so can somebody please tell me WTF their theory is on how they are abducting the ladies by taxi cab ?? I've never been abducted by a BKK cabby, so I have to take the TG's word for it yeah yeah, don't believe a word they say, yadda yadda there was a case at one time where a few Buriram gals claimed being dragged toward a van that had other young ladies in it turned out to be a hoax, but I can't remember what the young ladies' objective was so that was a case of the Buriram gals "who cried wolf", and were even generalized by some saying that Buriram gals were known to be FOS, LOL ok, so let's have it, what method are they using to get the ladies out of town or in their constraint ? but like the report said about the Buriram "cry wolf" gals, when some families sell their daughter for the cost of a new color TV, there's really no need to steal the young lovelies by hook or by crook, or is there ??

If someone can drug a girl with a rag, it is in the realm of possiblity that they can gas a girl in a cab. God you guys hate LY. Going to Subic Bay, Phillipines back in the navy days they told us that a verbal contract was binding. ie. you agree to pay 1000 pesos for something but then realize it is only worth 500. well, you had a deal and the police will be summoned and you have to pay. If you agree to buy a service or thing without negotiating, well then you have to pay what they ask... or they get the police. the scams: 1. As you were walking a guy would ask you for a light for his cigarette. If you stopped to give one kids would come out of nowhere with a shoe-shine kit and smear shoe polish on your shoes (or trainers, sneakers, chuck taylors....whatever). They would then demand like US$50. They would threaten to get the police. If the police came you would end up with paying less. I had plenty of guys ask me for a light just standing in the street, but I never stopped. There was one main road out of the base and you had to walk down it to get to the action. 2. A friend of mine bought some chicken-on-a-stick (aka monkey meat) and was eating it. A filipino guy ask him for some and since my friend was a nice guy he gave him some. The filipino thanked him very much and said I want to give you a gift for being so nice. My friend said No thanks. The man insisted on giving him a bracelet as a sign of good will. He said it was totally FREE. My friend agreed as long as it was free (he smelled a scam). Ok, what is your name? I will put it on the bracelet.. ok..R..O..B..E..R..T. He then gives it to my friend and says. that will be US$50. WTF!! I thought it was free??? It was free, the name was extra. Well, he settled on 20 and got the f*** out of there. Lesson learned.

Is this just a kind of "TITP" (This Is The Phillipines) type of moment? The phillipino's word against yours, but what's to stop them from simply pointing out random people across the street and telling the police that they had a verbal agreement with them? "He said he'd buy this monkey meat for $400 US." And the like.

Funny that you ask. That stuff never happened. Some kind of bizarre filipino logic. If you promised to marry a girl then backed out, they would contact the military and you would have to deal with it as if it were a written contract. I heard of this happening to guys. I never heard of guys being falsely accused. There may have been exceptions but I never heard any. The navy gave us little guides to read before we went ashore. The whole promise thing was covered in it. Basically if you had a GFE, buy her a motorbike, give her money, but don't tell her you want to marry, unless you do.

1. As a package tourist in 2002 got a call at the hotel room 15 mins after check-in telling us in excellent English that our half day tour (included in the package) had been overbooked - there were still spaces on the shopping tour and we would be picked up in the morning 30 minutes earlier than for the previous tour. Even sort confirmation that it was our first trip to Thailand by welcoming us to Thailand. Got nervous when I said I had been to Thailand before but my partner had not. I knew it was a "hijack" attempt but played along insisting I wanted the river tour we had booked (we had not booked our tour at this stage at all) and that they could "bump" someone else to the shopping tour. Always fun to play along. 2. Similar trip and the friendly Thai in the street comments on my partners diamond ring and says how he buys some every year for his friend who lives in our country. Establishes that my friend lives on one side of the country and then says his friends shop is in a city on the other side of the country. I leap in saying really, that's where I live...what street is the shop in? Slick bastard actually has the name of a street in the middle of the CBD. Really I say again, near the Post office? He makes an excuse and moves off quickly. 3. Walking past the Grand Palace with a local girl in 2004 and the touts tell her she cannot go into the Palace with those shoes. Of course that Tuk tuk will take us to another nearby temple which we can go into. We had no intention of going in and my Thai friend is thanking this prick for his concern and explaining we are just going for a walk. She remains oblivious to the attempted scam and to this day insists that the guy was just trying to help us. Will not believe that a fellow Thai would do something dishonest. 4. And full points to the guy who approached us in the throng heading into MBK shopping centre near the sky train and told us we could not go into MBK today because it was closed! Government sale just down that way. 5. Then there are the farang touts in Patong with the scratch tickets and the free tuk tuk to collect your prize from the hotel where they are selling the time-share or what ever. LOS = Land of Smiles LOS = Land of Scams Enjoy

Incidently TPE chloroform can be absorbed through the skin and could have the symptoms described. Whether it could be practically administered in this way I don't know.
OK, this'll probably be removed pretty quickly because it's about 'drugs', but anyone who has ever played with chloroform will know that if you put it on a cloth/rag and put it very near or on your face... it burns. Quite nastily. Not Elephant Man-like scars, but badly enough. It's reputation as a knock-out drug is way over-rated. As an anaesthetic it needs to be applied in a quite specific way, i.e. dripped (over a period of time) onto a mask that is separate from but covering the mouth and nose.

" A friend of mine fell for this. He used it one time it was a hassle and he had to pay like US$50 a night for an upgrade. Not a good deal. Next trip he tried to use it but gave up and decided to walk away and cut his losses. Time shares might work in expensive areas of the world, but not Thailand.

I was thinking about a dilluted solution, what would happen then?
