Absolutely no need to get hysterical about HIV...condoms are actually very safe...provided that you know how to use them and use some lube...
and don't worry at all about razors and toothbrushes...the HIV virus is a very delicate one and out of the body its survival time is really very short...you only get infected by receiving quite a load of virus material from your infected partner's body fluids directly into your body. And by the way...saliva is well known to kill the HIV virus fairly quickly. HIV is transmitted mainly through sexual intercourse, through contaminated blood transfusions and through the sharing of syringes and needles by the drug addicts....you know thes people oush their drugs into the veins and then suck up to fill the syringe with blood and push it in again...to flush every little bit of drug out of ythe syringe and into the blood stream...then if the syringe is used immediately by another person there is an exchange of quite fresh blood with live viruses. I'm not aware that ever someone got infected by razors, scissors or toothbrushes; I would reckon it's not possible

In reference to it taking decades to find a cure because it is mutating. I would put faith in mans ability to adapt to a changing situation. Our knowledge in treatment options is always evolving. I would be more concerned avout mutating staph virus'. Staph could kill you a lot faster than HIV

By the way Staph is no virus; it's a bacterium. Nasty mutations of Staph are bad but by far not our greatest fear. Bacteria are usually much easier to control than viruses and other than with viruses, antibiotics are being developed realatively easily. A much bigger threat are new emerging viruses like SARS or new mutations of tropical hemorrhagic fevers like Ebola

Well, probably it depends how desperate the junkies are...and maybe some are starting to adapt "safer practices"...a good sign that education campaigns might bear fruit
