Hitler is a very poor example, as it is completely out of context.
A conman scamming individuals for 20,000 Baht, might seem like ameasly sum to you ($500 US), but if they are a con man, it's likely that this is not the only instance. Let's assume that other scams take place, some for more, some for less. From what other people are mentioning on here, there have been others.
20,000 Baht done twice a week or so, amounts to a nice monthly sum - and, sure, it's a measly amount -- except if you are the one needing it, or if it's your last money.
Either way, if it was stolen illegitimately, the perpetrator should be made to pay, one way or another. For what it's worth, I have received sufficient evidence and information regarding the people involved, from multiple independent sources to satisfy me. For my part, it simply means that I will avoid certain people.
The sad fact about scamming is that, unless done on a phenomneal level, it is never worth the effort spent to set it up, execute it, and then avoid the consequence. If you broke it down to an hourly wage, you'd end up with something around 10 sataeng, probably.

Oh, really?? Then why not go back to the root of the matter and start a "Agree with caronte, chrisboy, and all the others who were scammed" thread instead? Wouldn't that be more relevant?
One wonders if you actually know anything about the scamming incidents. I know I do.
