I am personally sick and tired of hearing Christmas music in every store and Thia's singing Christmas carols at shopping malls in BKK. I think it is a disgrace to the culture of Thailand and Buddhist religion that Christmas is ever-present in BKK.

The retail biz in Thailand wants to get in on this Christmas scene. Is there a Holiday in Thailand that involves exchanging gifts similar to this one ?
Are they playing Christmas Carols that mention "Christ the Savior", "Holy Child"...etc, or do they focus on the Santa Claus, Jingle Bells, Winter scene ?

I've heard the gamut of christmas songs during my last trip, and I'm theorizing because the people selecting the songs really neither care, nor know - they just assume farang like those songs during the season.
I just hope no one tells them about Hanucha.

Who cares what farangs like? People are always complaining about America exporting its culture to other countries, but in truth these countries go in an steal American culture themselves, and it is usually the worst parts of American culture that they try to copy.
I guess most people on this forum don't really care (they came to LOS for different reasons) but the average American tourist would be aghast that the spent thousands of dollars to visit an exotic land, only to hear Christmas music playing everywhere.
