Great thread – think I will respond……. I am new to this forum. I had a 10-day trip scheduled for BKK – 9/23 to 10/03 and wanted to get a current update on my favorite city. This would be my 4th trip and I still considered myself a BKK newbie. I read the forum for a couple of weeks and received valuable information, which mad my subsequent, trip a rounding success! I decided to formally join BFT and felt I should submit a few field reports to repay the site for the valuable facts I received from it. I did not want my account overdrawn. I had some trepidation posting to BTF because some of the vicious responses and flames currently being posted and the way newbie posters seem to be for the most part ignored! Flaming is an art! While some of the flames are actually quite well done and very funny, others are destructive and have little to no value. I decided I would post anyway and this will be my 12th post since the end of Sept. I am surprised that I have not been majorly slam-dunked to date. I have received positive feedback from two quasi-senior members through BTF messages; one members that seems to disagree with everything I posted except for purchasing the “Green Music” CD from NANA station; and one who thinks I am a bleeding heart BKK reformer who overpays. Both of these opinions were posted in a pleasant, un-threatening manner, so I will continue posting. Reading Fastmover and ABC prompted me to write this post. I agree with their position that there are over 4,000 members that are lurking and not posting. BKK is more than a gaping vagina that all the BTF members throw bahh into and the one who throws the least amount in wins. There is more to do in BKK than chase BG’s. I am going back over to BKK for 4 weeks this Dec. and would like to see Phuket, Pattaya and Chiang Mai again. I have always wondered what is in eastern Thailand besides lots of brown skinned essen TG’s. Even if you have never been to LOS, you should still post and ask questions. I would be more than happy to take a list of questions with me to LOS and try to find answers for anybody interested. Anybody want any photos taken of anything: – yeh - besides naked TG’s? You can still enjoy BKK if you can’t visit yet. Since I won’t be able to screw 24 hours/day for 30 days, even with Mr. V & Mr. C’s help, I am open to other interesting activities – not that I won’t try a 30 day, non-stop binge…………. I enjoy walking up and down Sukhumvit and its many branching Soi and poking my nose into any establishment that appears interesting. I think regular members who have been to BKK or live there should give newbies a break when they ask a question that might have been answered by a 6 month-old thread buried somewhere. I would especially give a lot of latitude to members and guests who have not had the opportunity to get to BKK yet and help them live the experience! I enjoy this forum very much and will continue to post. I might even loose my virginity some day if I remain unsigned for 38 more posts. 2K & 3K posts – I am impressed! Whatever direction BTF takes in the future will be a good one, as long as everybody has the opportunity to post information and especially ask questions. There are no really bizarre questions you can ask – except that one about the http://www.rotten.com. Can you believe that website! Now that is bizarre! BKK in 62 days -

fastmover : I've realized that trying to discuss this might take way too long. Go ahead and fight against the rules if you like. That is your own choice. I'm not the administrator and will not speak for him. I and others were meerly trying to point out to you why newbies or members that don't follow the rules get into trouble with other members, mostly vetrans. You think it's some conspiracy of some secret posse and not the fact that the vetrans have been around long enogh to have had enough. And if a newbie is reading this thread, they should understand that if they start breaking the rules they might get an earfull. I would think better and earfull from the general membership, then one message from BK saying "You have been placed on TROLL mode". I addressed your posts about starting new threads without using the search engine, the flaming, and thread hijacking / spamming. If you want an exact date when the flaming got bad, then you will have to ask BK himself. But realize this, prior to 2002 I don't recall any rules be ineffect. There weren't any formal rules, since we all acted like adults and not little kids testing the system. Just by the fact that rules were implemented rather recently should say something. You chose only to respond to flaming. Because of that, I assume that you feel that flaming is the worst on the list. In my opinion that is not true. All the issues, search engine, thread hijacking / spamming and flaming are equally as bad and the rules were implemented to curb ALL of them. Do as you like, but I suspect that members that are constantly swimming upstream will get banned or leave long before the other members (vetrans and newbies alike) who go with the flow. Point of referece: I know that within the last week a newbie was banned on first day he or she posted for thread spamming. So, if you don't think BK will take action against those that break the rules you are wrong. He wields a wicked lightsaber. When he's had enough, he's had enough. A new acronym I'll use . RTFR instead of UTFS. *Read The Forum Rules* ha ha ha!!!

Mr. ABC...I think from your last post that you have had a couple of beers. Cheers to you! I need to say that for the most part we have misunderstood each other. And that is to bad. BUT--I hope everyone noticed, that we responded to each other with reasonable behavior. No harsh words or flames. And that is the best anyone can do. And that is the way we should act. So I am done with this thread since I have tried to convey a message that was not really understood and we are too far down the thread to reconsider our meaning. So cheers, and I will have a chat with you on some other thread where our points may be agreeable.

So far as people leaving, quietening down etc is concerned, I suspect the main cause is just a natural progression. First, comes the pleasant realisation that here - at last - is a place where you can share your thoughts on a subject that is personally absorbing with a large number of other people who a) know what you're talking about, and b) won't automatically consign you to outer darkness. While it's not so bad for those of us who live in LOS, many who don't obviously have to be very guarded in talking about this stuff with friends and acquaintances back home. This can be quite a lonely and even alienating experience. You feel (or at least I used to feel) censored, and it is mighty frustrating to bottle all this stuff up. You want to talk about it, but you know you're on a hiding to nothing and you just can't. So, in the initial burst of enthusiastic discovery, there's a tendency to say everything you have to say on the subject and post a lot here. Then there comes a point where you've just about said it all twice over, can't be bothered saying it again, and actually become wearied with the same old stuff coming round time and again. So naturally, you become a lot more selective in who and what you respond to, and post a lot less. Some people stop participating altogether, which is a shame - because among all the dross, there IS good stuff from new and old posters emerging all the time. As for FRs, the trouble with most of them is that they're just dire. Basic problem is that the sex act is far more enjoyable to engage in than read about. You might just as well write about eating a steak as sticking your dong in some anonymous LBFM. Why the hell should anyone else be expected to care? Real 3-dimensional people, on the other hand, always make for good copy. ChicagoGuy bowling with NanaHottie & friend, or Nokna taking his girl to the zoo, do manage to capture the fascination & charm of these women (and, although they're only one small aspect of it, of Thais and Thailand in general). In the end, I suppose that's the mystery that holds most of us in thrall, and that we use this forum to try to penetrate. Anyway, I am grateful to all those posters (new as well as old) whose insights and experiences have helped me get a better handle on whatever the hell it is that goes on here.

thanks Arcadius. your mention of my trip to the Zoo has made me get the video out of my trip to the Zoo. i've started to watch and it makes me so happy to see a BG taken out for the day and having so much fun and just smiling, laughing and squealing at things. but also quite emotional for me. 1st time i have watched it since May. i have my 5 favourite days ever spent in Thailand and this is definately one of them. thanks again.....

Arcadius, I was thinking along similar lines. In particular, here in the U.S.A. I feel like this all the time: Half the time now, I don't even bother to open my mouth about things, as the gap is too far to bridge. It will only get resolved when my TGF finishes school -- then some real life-affecting decisions will be made and things will take a new course. So, in the meantime, this is good therapy. And, occasionally, very humorous. I do see all forums as subject to evolution, this one too, as members move in and out, move on, and return. Change is the real constant. I've met some good people through this exchange, and hope to meet more. - Balls
