Hello all
DEEP DEPRESSIONand MISERY: How to minimize this inevitable feeling when the only thing left of your trip is the ride to the airport and long flight back home.
I can't get over this feeling of MY Lifes over and the only thing left is 6 monthes or longer of HELL(WORK) till my next trip.
Right now I pretty pumped up about my 3 week trip to Thailand. I have 62 more days to go (NOV 17th) and Man I can not wait to be strolling along walking street pattaya or sumhumvit with the only worry is which TG to choose for my next GF
However That day DEC 9th is looming This is the Day I must leave the LOS and return to the HELL I call Work. This day is like death to me I can't take the torcher and Hell. Please guys how do you cope with such doom and gloom??? How do you all ease this eventuallity so its not so Painful to bare???
I know the only cure for this is permant location into Thailand but for right now this is Not a option for me cause of my kids needs.
Outside of this Cure is therer any cures that will at least EASE the pain??

b4b, i definetely can relate to you, my first trip was in may, and the next time i can go again is around next may...
Right now i'm spending time with a thai language course & a thai language course & a thai language course (...) & lots of reading about thai culture.
First, imho there's only one real cure for that kind of depression - you guessed it - coming back or planning for that.
You might just straigthen out your options, which were to me:
a) immediate relocation to LOS (not an option for me at this time)
b) Looking for a career change with a company that has an office/branch/subsidiary in BKK and working your way (in the making for me) and while you're at it, looking at c)
c) drawing out a plan that allows you (financially) to plan more than one trip in advance; that way you'll be able to look beyond the next trip.
If you are really, as your handle suggest bound for Bangkok, you might try to be a little adventurous and throw in some time in Pattaya (cutting on the costs) or even an extra tip to Angeles & the like...
Well, other than this, what'd you expect? reading this forum (for me) certainly doesn't make it easier anticipating the next trip (if it's months away)...

There is no esy remedy for post LOS feelings of emptiness, lack of beer and attention. WOrking up to the next visit now that can be tough. One character suggested an itinerary based approach. This has it's positives and I am a strong supporter of this approach. Planning gets you in the LOS mood and builds anticipation of the coming trip - this can be done as many as say 3 months out - and then refined and re read along the way. Some plan down to the last minute others just get off at Don Muang and say 'here I am', with no plans and just decisions to make of where to get off on the expressway leading out. A plan however one can research and go over and over. Whilst planning in too much depth can stifle a trip, generally I find it works and is good for the lead up and subsequent LOS withdrawals. Every traveller is different and some may or may not like this style. Another less dramatic approach is the 'slip in and out' theory. By this I tend to visit Thai Restaurants in my home town, especially ones with Thai waitresses, where I can say a few words in Thai, enjoy a Thai meal and escape the confounds of the west for a short stint. Otherwise I may visit the supermarket, find the Asian section, get some green curry in a can, whack in some chicken, rice cooker some jasmine rice, maybe even lash out and make some apphetizers and have a small dinner party. I'll try and buy lager beer as well to suit the palate and mood. This can be enhanced by Thai paraphenalia, like Thai style candleholders, Thai style forks and spoons and Thai style tableclothes - all of which can be purchased cheaply in the Pratunam region(s). This is all of course a band aid approach to the real thing, but pampering a little to satisfy the LOS hunger does dampen the withdrawals a little. We are a sad bunch.

Mr Bound4bangkok...choose one of the following just before you leave Bangkok........
A. Catch a drug resistant STD from you favourite BG.
B. Pack-up some narcotics in your bag.
C. Slap around a BG and wait for her boyfriend and his 8 friends to arrive.
D. Pop into the local police station and insult the Royal family.
E. Take a tuk-tuk around for an hours sightseeing and then refuse to pay.
F. Go to any dance club and tell some expat his bitch is a lousy f*** and you want your money back.
G. Jumb up on stage at Longgun and give a urine sample in someone's beer.
H. Stand in the middle of Suk. at rush hour, blindfolded.
I. Kick one of those stray dogs. Better yet kick two.
J. Find an underage BG, have your way with her, and then confess your guilt in the middle of the hotel lobby. Preferably a five star hotel.
Choose one, or even go for two, of the above if your grief about leaving BBK becomes unbearable.
Memories are made of these.

You can try using a stun gun on yourself whenever you catch yourself thinking about Thailand or TGs. Eventually, you will learn not to think about those horrible things.

just ideas (3zeroalpha mentioned some already):
- go out for dinner at a thai restaurant, choose one and become a regular
- listen thai radio with your IE during work
- learn thai (!), look for a female thai teacher in your area
- go to the asian chat at yahoo (adult chat) and have some webcam flirts with asian girls (only few thais there)
- look at the pictures you brought from LOS (temple here & temple there..and there too..)
- look at the pictures from the girls you had last time 
- read & answer the "sick buffalo" mails you get
- attend the songkran and other partys at your local thai community
- let your favourite thai gf fly in for some months (i do
- wear your thai bar t-shirt and watch the faces of the farang ladies *sanook maak*
- put some thai stickers on your car - may be you get in contact with some thais (be sure you know what is written there..)
- cut the legs of your tables and get used to sit on the floor
- be sure to have at least one clock at your home showing bkk time
- learn muay thai (they have courses for beginners) if you like that sport
- try to get a thai channel on your sat tv
- get used to read the bangkok post online edition every morning before you leave for work
- at work: imagine on what you will spent your days salary during your next trip
- at work: if your boss or coworkers are ***** tell yourself they NEVER fu**** that cutie you had last time, instead they have their big farang wifes..hehehe...
- ...any more ideas..?

I need the cure for the Lives over felling you get when the only thing left is the cab ride to the airport the long flight home thinking about how long it might be till you get back

Don't look at the cup and think it's half empty. Concentrate on all the good memories you will be collecting while you are in the LOS. Otherwise, your negative thoughts will overshadow all the fun.
I look at it this way when my trip is over and I am on my way home: I am happy that I have completed a tour to the LOS, if I die now, I would die a happy man because I have experienced something the majority of the people I know never had a chance to experience.
