Dear Members,
First of all I would like to mention that I am not a newbie to this forum. I am a regular poster but my situation at the moment needs a new anonymous name.
I am in need of urgent SINCERE help. 3 weeks ago I became very ill. I went to the hospital and after some testing the world exploded in my face. HIV positive.
All you guys, don't worry, on my escapades in Bangkok I ALWAYS had protected save sex. Even no BBBJ. And from now on never a new escapade again.
Please do not ask me how I got it. I do not know. I have an idea however which has nothing to do with sex but all with healthcare. I will tell you my story in the future.
I live in Bangkok and would like to ask all of you if you know any other western people who are HIV positive and receive treatment in Bangkok. I have so many questions to ask and need somebody to talk to.
Please note that this is a sincere request and nothing to joke about. I am having a terrible time at the moment.

My only advice is: get yourself to a country where the most advanced anti-retroviral and other medications are available.
They are not available in Thailand. Not the latest and best.
And do not waste your time with "V-1 Immunator". Except for Police Gen Salaeng, those people are crooks, and Salaeng has bowed out of that mess.
You need to get on AZT abd the "cocktail" group of protease inhibitors. As far as I can find out this will freeze the cascade at whatever your present level is, improve your quality of life, strength etc. If you are bothered by opportunistic infection, those must be dealt with one by one. But if your immune system isn't too far gone, you might not be hassled with those.
AZT and the protease inhibitors might buy you time for more and better meds to appear on the market.

Truly sorry to hear this. I can't give you any better advice than Sauron; if you can afford to do as he says, do it and hope for something on the horizon. In regard to your comment about healthcare contracted HIV -- my buddy's ex-wife has a son who was diagnosed HIV positive just a few years ago. He was not more than 8 or 9 years old, and apparently contracted it from a hospital stay in the U.S. So that happens, even here.
I also know someone who has been living with HIV for over 13 years now. He is one of the lucky ones who has some natural resistance to bad parts of the disease, and his cocktail of drugs may just give him the runway he needs for that eventual cure/control we all hope for.
Hang in there. As you know, every minute you have now and into the future is precious. I was diagnosed with a malignant form of cancer when I was 21. It had a survival rate of 2 in 10 back then. I beat it, am 45 now, but still have to look over my shoulder for recurrences as I appear to have a propensity for it. So I have learned firsthand the value of whatever borrowed time I have earned. Seek support of those you know and love, as it is the most important thing you can do for yourself (in addition to the drug cocktails) -- don't let yourself suffer in silence. Your request to those on this forum for help is a good first step. Thanks for asking us, we are honored.

tough break man, nothing can prepare one for news like this.
Apart from the usual medication, I think its time you looked at other ways to be healthy that may not have seemed important till now. Like diet, for instance.
I also believe that one of the best ways to come to terms with something like this is to consider helping others who are also infected. When you working with those who are infected it might help you deal better with your own circumstances. Easier said than done but thats what I think.
Also important to try not to allow yourself to be dragged down by feelings of despair and feeling sorry for yourself.
Remember you have got years and years during which medication can bolster your immune system and even reduce the virus to barely a trace.

All you guys, many thanks for the good words. I am very happy te hear that I am still one of the brothers.
Mentally I am getting stronger every day and I will not allow myself to slide in a deep hole. Thank god I get a lot of positive reactions from my close friends who know. They also are doing all their best to help me in anyway they possibly can. A small problem is that they are all overseas and not here.
I have not decided yet to go back because here is my home and I always felt happy here. I never felt happy in my own country and I am almost sure I never will. The comming months will tell me more when I get my first medication.
Still it is very difficult to find other western people in Bangkok in the same situation. I hope I can find someone to talk to and share experiences. I speak Thai but to tell people what you really feel inside, in Thai is very difficult.
I use the name "hope to live long" but how I feel at this moment of typing I better should use "I WILL LIVE LONG"
