the mamasan at the local Thai Restaurant in my little town Drammen tells me that there are 350 thais in this town, and they are all women and all single.

Don't know where Drammen is, but love that fish soup in Bergen. And the train ride from Oslo was magnificent. Beautiful country, wonderful people, and I could probably get used to caviar for breakfast. Take your cross country skis, TWD.

let me give you some background info which possibly never reached you in the saudi desert :
Norway and Sweden were in a political union. Norway wanted to leave the union in 1905 but Sweden did not want this to happen. So, for once there actually was a short war between to otherwise sensible and levelheaded scandinavian nations. The outcome was that Norway became independent.
I don't think it was a very bloody event though.
Funnily enough, the family line of prospective royalties had run out so Norway asked a member of the Danish Royal family to come and be King of Norway!
Since then Norwegians always enjoy when they beat the Swedes in skiing competitions.
In 1904 it apparently was reported that a bear ate a bear hunter. The details around that are not known.
However, two months ago it happened again in northern Sweden that a bear killed and ate a beer hunter. This was reported on norwegian National Prime Time News and made me laugh my head off, as it reflects the national psyche. It was a big deal and the way it was presented was not in shock but rather as positive news.
Who will eat the Thais? Well, the thais are buddists, whereas the swedes are not. No one will eat them allthough we do it nicely to their women.
Maybe you better keep EMAT on a leash if you've got her over for a visit. BTW is emat lesbian?
