TEXPAT; [coll.] Acronym and combination of TEMPORARY and EXPATRIATE; someone who leaves his country temporarily; stage in one’s life longer than even a long vacation but less than a final emigration, often occurs in combination with off-shore work. Yes, yes, yes – this lucky bastard is moving to BKK in the near future to do a long time project in LOS. What does that mean in details ??? I’m going to tell you: I will do a project in BKK and I will stay there for several years. I will have a great serviced apartment in Suk Rd area all paid by the company This situation is the perfect answer to the loss I have had in Europe recently, when my Nubian sex goddess became too demanding money wise and we had to split after more than one year of Mickey-boy-eating-the-chocolate. Anyone envying me ???

I envy you both, anyone know of a good CIO post in LOS? Since it's LOS I'll be fine with anything in the 10 mil TB range if I also get some stock options and fringes. Compy

Compexec It's tough to get an IT related job on a good expat package because even if (as an employer) you can manage to convince your head office that you need an expat in the position, there are so many well qualified IT related people available in Asia (especially India) that there is no way they will approve a "western" expat package. We used to have an Indian expat CIO here - he was excellent - but we have had to localise the position for cost reasons. It is the same with finance personnel - you see fewer and fewer western expat finance directors/financial controllers/internal audit people as it is easy to get well qualified people from India/Philippines among others. The whole expat thing is a big gravy train and I am very lucky to be on it - if I was perfectly honest, I would find it hard to justify what I cost my employer here and (if pushed) would take a cut in remuneration rather than repatriate to the UK.

Good thing that doesn't apply to Mac people, eh? There seems to be a veritable lack and need for Mac folks, as I found on several recent trips. Dr. von Quack!

I don't consider myself a TEXPAT, I consider myself a SEXPAT. Look that one up in your Funk & Wagnalls.
