Since this brotherhood is an endless well of knowledge and good advices... (hrrm...) I thought it would be fun to throw out a somewhat different question for debate.
I have been travelling to LOS happily for 25+ years. NEVER EVER bringing or even dreaming of taking a farang wife or girlfriend with me. However years passes by, you get a bit older (not necessarily wiser..) and for the past 10 years I am a happily married man - still very much in love with my dear wife. Having said this does not mean that I still donīt enjoy my twice a year asian travels with "stop-overs" in BKK (for 8-10 days or so..) All things in due course and I will stop enjoying hanging in a beerbar or a soapy when hell freezes over - or I will probably be dead first - which is about my timelimit.
However, and here is the clou: since my dear wife now for a number of years have realised that I am always coming home a happy and "relaxed" hombre, she has started to ask questions about this fantastic location and finally I did what I never thougt I would do: I booked us a couple of tickets to go to LOS together in the X-mas period! 10 days from dec 26.
She is happy as a child and looks forward to travel to a part of the world she has never been even close to. I have told her about marvellous body massages (that I have read about in the tourist brochures...) and that is something she really loves! I stated that if she tries these services out, I will go to the bar "for a few beers with the guys" (eventually ending up at a session at the Barons.... ah... rejoyse!) I have of course stated that I personally HATE massages and strange people even getting close to my body... she believes it but knowing her - she will probably go for double sessions of TTM every day! Which leaves a bit of space for personal "endeavours"....hehehe!
So hereīs the topic of the day to be solved by you worldwide LOS travellers out there: where do I take her for our holiday and what to show?! Patpong, NEP and Soi Coswboy are sort of out of the picture if you know what I mean! Still I have to go to places I NEVER usually visit in order to give an impression that "this is how boring it is dear when I have to go here on my lengthy businesstrips"! See the problem?! Or is rivertours, temples and Rose Garden my only option?! HELP!
Thing is that we both love animals and want to go and see the Tiger Park near Chon Buri. However - that is a bit close to Pattaya....... what I would like to do is take her out for a full day on a boat trip to some island. But if we return to Pattaya and she sees it all - then I would probably be grounded for life!
So you see dear broīs - even an experienced LOS traveller can be cornered! Where to take your wife - and where to not!
I can just see the horror pic in front of me: strolling down Walking street in Pattaya and some chick comes up and cheers you: "Hello Jojje - remember me!?!!" Yikes!
Any advices of "bringing-wife-to-LOS-travel-ideas" are WELCOME!

1.Get her in a taxi in Sukhumvit and head to Silom at 17.30/18.00...or even the highway to Bang Na would be ok...
2. Let her walk in Sukhumvit at 14.30 when the temperature is close to 44 celsius
3. Get her a ride in a crazy tuk tuk
4. Let her experience the thrill of the "farang surcharge" in the markets, museums, parks....
5. Bring her to Chatuchak market at 12.00 and let her walk all the way until 16.00.....
6. Take ther around the shopping malls...Centrals, The Mall....damn't boring!
7. Let her visit ALL the temples in Bangkok!
The above should be enough to let her leave Thailand feeling sorry for you, poor bastard that has to suffer in this hell!

hehehe! Dont get me wrong - I love my wife - but your advice is good since that will probably just make her so sorry for me when I have to endure those dreadful travels! One setback though: Yours Truly have to join in the plans you mention.... gosh...!

if she does get intolerably bored take her to MBK where you can have a huge variety of foods in their cafeteria style eatery, or even catch a film.

she can shop till she drops there !!

Guess that for a bit more stylish shopping we should advise the Emporium, Gaysorn Plaza or even Central Plaza Rama 3 etc. More the style for a bros wife who can not be seen close to the lovelies in town. And better shopping as well!!
And eating cafeteria style in Bangkok?? So many good restaurants in BKK....... But ye, everybody his choice..

If your got the old ball and chain in tow. The Twin Towers Hotel is the place to stay. Away from the nite life but close to the Sky-Train in down town BKK. About 5 minutes away from MBK shopping Center.
Good 3+ star hotel, swimming pool, spa. OK places to eat. About 2K per day.

Cafeteria style dining is the way heaps of Thais do it every day. I think it should be a mandatory thing to try at least once.
granted I don't normaly eat that way myself, but also MBK's is different than most
they have JP dishes at 450b a set, good maki & sushi
normally you can't find any dish over 100 Bath in a setup like that...

not to mention, if want to eat in expensive restaurants every day, you could have saved the cost of the flight and hotel, and done it at home...
