Just booked a flight with Gulf Air. I would appreciate any opinions from the brothers that have flown this airline. The good, the bad, the ugly, all welcome.

Anytime you fly on an Arab airline you increase your chances of sitting next to someone who does not regularly bathe and has never used deodorant (before I get all of these discrimination replies please note that I only said it increases your chances). Other than that, my flight on Gulf Air was fine and Emirates is a great airline.

I flew with them in November 2002 London-Bahrain-Bangkok. Plenty of room on the London-Bahrain leg both ways (about 34"). Bahrain- Bangkok was much tighter (31-32"). Stop at Bahrain on way back 3 1/2 hours was a bit like watching paint dry. Food wise they are okay.

From Middle East to bkk, you're going to be in an older A340...no back seat tv (food and service not so good). If your lucky, and go through Abu Dhabi...you get anew plane with back seat tv, from Erope to the Middle. No such luck through Bahrain.
To NM.....you're been driven by me before....ha ha???

Gulf Air has ABSOLUTELY NO regard for their absurd levels of bumping and offers nothing more than a hotel room when they do destroy your vacation - through inability to reestablish connections in a busy season.
Their FFP is the most poorly organized of any.
Agree with oldarmy, and will add that they also tolerate unacceptable levels of rude behavior, especially from Arab children.
However they do often get off the ground and back on, and they beat walking.

I've always been lucky flyin' GF, never a prob'. Be careful if you're "flyin'" during the Haj season though. On the way to Bahrain you'll have a much better chance of sittin' next to one of Oldarmy's chaps!
Come to think of it flyin' on GF durin' Ramadan aint too clever either for the same reason!
Ramadan is already underway and should finish about 12th November, whereas Haj will kickoff in January 2005.
Give us a  on yer way over!
