I am coming to LOS with my entourage in Mid june for a month ( FLR Jr, Mrs La Rue and young Kuhn Kane) We will go a whole bunch of us to Hua Hin for an extended weekend, there will be about 12 persons, half of them are kids. We are looking for a resort style hotel with a large swimming pool area, proximity to town center and possibly beach. I exclude the very high end resorts simply for price reasons. I have been looking at Hua Hin Imperial Resort and Hotel (previously Majestic Resort), it looks good, but the beach location seems to be a scam, as you cannot really use it due to tides and how the resort is built next to it (I got this from pics and guest comments).
We have cars so we can stay in the outskirts of town and drive ourselves to where ever we want to go.
Any suggestions?
And, oh yes - maybe there will be a "Travels with Frank - The Return"?

Frank, last trip I spent time in HH first trip there and I really liked it I went through http://www.huahinafterdark.com/ and staid at HH Avenue that was opposite the bus station. It was brand new very clean the staff were very inexperience it had a shared pool and balconies that didn't have great views.
Hooked up with some buddies and was astonished at the range of accommodation I suppose with family you want the the full package. So I guess my point is that there huge range and if you have time for a weekend before the family weekend strolling around town I am sure you will find what you want and need.
I will do HH again I really enjoyed it great food beach and massage night life you can find everything you want and need.
The family may enjoy a train ride down for something different?

Thanks guys for your valued feedback, great that the brotherhood is still there, although I do not contribute much these days, as I am basically retired from punting, having taken up nappy-changing instead. I eveng got some PMs on the issue from very senior rankin members-turned-lurkers.

I am perhaps restarting an old thread. Just wanted comments and suggestions. I shall be on a trip to Thailand for four days and shall be there with my girl friend. I wondered if Hua Hin would be a better holiday destination than Bangkok. We have been to Bangkok a few times but never to Hua Hin. Obviously P4P is not an issue! Could I have some suggestions, please? And yes, we do not want to go to Pattayya!

Buffalo Bill's Rooftop Apartments.
There are two apartments, separated by a courtyard, on the roof. Exceptional views, and they have great food at Buffalo Bill's Tavern, in the same building. Awesome breakfast included.
I stayed there two trips ago for a couple of days, and it was extremely pleasant.

Awesome place for kids in Hua Hin is the Marriott Courtyard Hua Hin. They have water slide pool and a kids play room with movies, indoor play areas and a ball room with slides. Absolutely awesome for the kids!

Thanks for feedback, w ehave been bakc to HH multiple times since the original posting. Wifey's family uses an apparftment hotel hust accross from Market Village.
We tried Hilton only the 3 of us KAne, wifey and me in Augusr 2011 but buggered off 2 days early due to the disco noice making it up to 15th floor and too crowded with European/Scanindavian tourist on package deals - they clogge up the area around the pool.
We have allowour ourselves a few times to stay at Dusit, pricey but very nice. Wer have a car so distance to Town no problem - parking is a problem though.
I will keep Mariott in mind although we will be going to Pattaya this time
