Hi,
Just been offered a very cheap flight in April from Manchester UK to BKK via Singapore, slightly longer flight but much much cheaper than Emirates.
Anyone had any experience of flying with Singapore, heard the stopover might be worthwhile for some Duty Free shopping, anyone any comments.

not to mention its very cute SIA girls and not too bad airplane food... yes I like... tho I have never tried emirates... just take it.
I know it's really weird of me to comment on airplane food.. call me crazy

Singapore Airlines is one of the best around. I always take it from New York (Newark) to Amsterdam. Service is great, cabin is comfortable, even in economy and girls are cute. Only problem is I can never find a good deal on SIA from the US to Asia.

Singapore Air has a good reputation for an airline & I had a great experience with them, but it was 13 years ago. (I've flown only Thai about a dozen times since then.) The flight attendants were very attentive and attractive as well. You probably couldn't go wrong flying Singapore.

I had the pleasure of flying Singapore Air last winter for the first time - I had been to Australia via Canadian/Air Canada/Quantas four times in the last 25 years, and went with SIA via Singapore last winter Ý- Ýlong way around, but great service, lovely attendants (I always get an aisle seat, and loved having those little oriental butts brushing against my shoulder all the time  ), great service, and good food, even back in economy, where I am probably doomed to spend the rest of my travelling life.
I'm still kicking my ass for not buying one of their flight attendant Barbie dolls, dressed in the ethnic outfits they wear called "keyabas" - these oufits look gorgeous on them, and it would have made a fine souvenir.
Have a great trip.

used to gly S'pore airlines when I was visiting my inlaws.
In 96/97 when all airlines were cutting cost to cope with reduc3ed demand Spore imporved the service, food, inflightentertainment etc as a way of competing in a declining market, and it worked. They are probably the best economy class fo money you can get. Only comment I have is that they seem to try to indirectly control your alcohol consumption by serving wine from lage bottles and restrict it to a glas per passenger. I once teamed up with another white male next to me and we insited on a bottle of red for the two of us to share. They resigned and we finally got it.

Check carefully the details quite often flights from Manchester are via somewhere like Bombay, so you could end up with 2 stop trip.
Donít know what price you have got but if it is around the £550 area; you can get direct flights from LHR for the same price with BA or Thai air.
Singapore Airlines are also offering flights at £550 to BKK from LHR with a 1 stop at Singapore.
As already said a great airline, but a bit careful with the alcohol.
If you have a stop over in Singapore and it is well worth the effort, I can recommend the "Harbour View" hotel, (an inexpensive 4star hotel) it is in the Business district, with some good K bars (with Thai and Philippine girls) within yards of the entrance, but the hotel is still close enough to the normal nightspots.

I flew last time to BKK with Singapore Air and I'm also flying with them in February.
A great airline, fantastic service and the air hostesses are very, very pleasing to the eye

Singapore airlines is one of the better airlines to fly. Priority for them is customer satisfaction. Hence the reason of having one of the youngest air crews in the industry. They are something to look at...hmmm. Their flight uniforms are called "Kabaya" and if any of the bros do get lucky...here's a tip, the uniform zipper is at the front! whahahaahha!
Plus they have more advance gadgets to make the flight a more pleasant one...like in flight personal screens and multiple channels to choose from, games and so on.
Foods not bad either but personally speaking i do not really like air plane food. they do serve wine as well for the economy class.
