Thanks everyone. Sorry if I seemed to worried, I just didnt know what to expect. Yea, if I sit in a bathroom stall before going to immigration office for an hour, my stay will be seen as 30 days, and not 31,.... so,... ok, cool. Thanks alot guys!

VJ: I think our young friend has decided it is easier to sit in a toilet stall and wait for the bewitching hour than it is to learn the 5 countries that provide VOAs. Maybe he just couldn't figure out what VOA stands for.

Apparently you did not understand this: "There are two ways Thai immigration determines your stamp-in date. One is by the time and date you present yourself for entry, the other is the scheduled arrival time of your flight. Which one you get depends on blind luck." Unless you have a porcelain fetish or are in dire need of a prolonged safety wank, there's a 50-50 chance your effort will be entirely fruitless. They may well stamp you in for the scheduled arrival date of your flight anyway. Note that if the flight is legitimately delayed and arrives after midnight, they most often will give you the post-midnight entry stamp. But if you just stall in the stall, you could get nothing more than piles and a social disease. If you're objecting to having to pay for a visa, why did you approve your travel dates without understanding your obligations? The MTV generation strikes again, I suppose...

One question, VJ...... How does the immigration officer know on which flight you were on? DJB, moral of the story.... just enter at the time you arrive and don't worry about the possible 1 day overstay. If you wait for an hour or more, maybe all luggage of your flight has been handled and you have to go looking for your suitcases.

Your name is already in the computer along with your passport number and flight information. Either the ticket agent enter this when you buy your ticket, or the boarding agent records it at departure.

Is that so? Interesting. Good to kinow. I would never have thought that the Thais had such a modern system. I thought they took it out from the info you write on the arrival form. I wonder why, once that I forgot to write it down, the officer asked me for the flight number.

Yeh I have trouble with that too. So I buy a ticket to BKK in a travel agent in Shanghai and my passport info is sent directly to immigration in Bkk so that when I arrive they know what flight I am on? Or when I check in for my flight in Shanghai my passport info is sent directly to immigration in BKK? Gee, I find that hard to believe. There are document checks leaving China, which may account for transmission to BKK, but again I am not sure there is immigration info exchange agreements between Thailand and China so complete that instant computer reference is provided. China being rather special when it comes to sharing information. Anybody know about this stuff?
