BIS miles...... yes. and that was my point to Eva..... they do not have any program for 1mm+ flyers.

The milage off credit cards, etc. is huge, but when I think about BIS miles wow the time I have spent in the air...... and all of them on Eva to bkk

I think you were correct in writing then. Can you post your result here when you hear back?

They just gave me a (semi) status match to Silver, so I'm now very curious.

.... wow the time I have spent in the air....
I just did a rough calculation and I have spent about 70 days in AA metal. If I add all other airlines, I have easily spent a total of six months flying. That is more than 1% of my life. W hat a waste of time.

For those who must first fly to the West coast of the US to get their connecting flight to BKK, I would recommend that you connect through Seattle rather than LAX. The cheapest way is to buy a Southwest ticket to Seattle rather than to LAX, then buy an entirely separate ticket on EVA to BKK.

You can typically save $500 or more on an EVA Air Premium Laurel Class (business class) to BKK if you leave from Seattle rather than LAX, since the Seattle flight is rarely full. As an example, tonight on the EVA site, a RT Premium Laurel ticket from LAX is $4320. If you leave from Seattle, the fare is $3776. And for some perspective, Cathay Pacific business class is typically $5000-$6000.

Lastly, over the past several years, I have grown to hate LAX. Between 9pm and midnight every night, I swear there are literally thousands of passengers trying to get through security to all their Asia and Pacific destinations on various airlines. There must be 30 fully packed 747's leaving during these 3-4 hours. The security lines can easily take over an hour just to get from the check-in counter to the gate. It just sucks.

I flew through Seattle recently, because the Premium Laurel fare was $500 cheaper. Was thoroughly impressed. No lines at security. The plane was only 75% full (compared to 100% capacity every night at LAX). There were no other international flights so the entire area wasn't congested. And the flight to Taipei was 90 minutes shorter. In the end, I get to BKK at the exact same time with much less aggravation.

If you live outside the LAX area, consider departing through Seattle instead. It's worth it.

Just to add, international arrivals at LAX around 8:00pm is another horror story, construction work underway

EVA wrote me back and said "no, we do not have a program for 1 million mile flyers" that was abou tit.... I wrote to both the Los Angeles service center and coporate GQ in TPE.

By the way, I do not believe the PL class is very comfortable on long hauls. Trans Pacific flights I raley sleep well. I like the touch screen entertainment center, but miss the old First class. At least sleep was easy.

I'm surprised. EVA Premium Laurel has 180 degree flat beds. Are you sure it wasn't Super Business Class? The Super Business Class is the old business class of EVA, and the seats are definitely the old-school, less comfortable version. I believe EVA flies the old Super Business Class from SFO. LAX, Seattle and JFK have Premium Laurel.

I used to fly Cathay, which is known as one of the better airlines, and found EVA's Premium Laurel better than Cathay's business class.

Anyway, hope you have a better experience next time. I must admit, I do take a Tylenol PM with my dinner which may help me sleep better than I would otherwise.

And I think if you've flown 1 Million miles with them, they ought to do something for you regardless if they have a set program for that. That's bad business not to.

How so?

If it gets you to where you need to go, and you enjoy the destination, it seems hardly a waste - at worst, 'the cost of doing business'.

Of course, in our time of Ambien popping, liquor swilling air travelers, I can understand how they may consider time spent in the air as a waste of time, but I frankly did not take you for one of them.

I've been flying since, literally, I was born, and they were mostly intercontinental flights of 10 hours or more. I don't even want to start adding up my air time...

Are you, or Cathay, smoking crack with these prices???

Agree on the clusterphuck that is LAX, though? I may look into flying to Seattle from LAX to catch a better flight, though - that's how bad it is...

My last two trips I flew from LAX with EVA. For my next trip in July, I booked via SEA.

Cathay's prices have been closer to 7K for business class which is why I switched to EVA. EVA's Premium Laurel seat though is just OK. It's definitely not 180 degree flat bad, but if I put in the Z postion I can sleep OK.

I agree with Buttman, I hate the TBIT at LAX. However, coming home last time, I had the quickest experience in customs that I have ever had. Just a quick snif from CBPs beagle, and I was out the door.
