China Air been ok on the low fares but I hate cattle calls.... weekends are packed ! TPE is the major Pac hub for many carriers but dead as to services, lounges are so so..... miss HK runs...Cathay been high for B class

Will have to do a search..... Thai Air was my best run.... Whats the time duration for this trip ? > 18 hrs unless the 777 cranked past 3/4 throttle like private corp jets

I'm a Diamond member with EVA and really like them. I agree that the TPE airport is no Singapore or Hong Kong, but it has gotten much better in recent years. My goal is to sleep on the long flights to and from the west coast of the U.S., and I can do that in their new Elite seats.
The old Evergreen Deluxe seats had the same amount of leg room as the new seats, but had much more seat recline. However the new Elite seats have AVOD (on demand video) which keeps me entertained when I'm not sleeping.

Stray: If I'm paying and not using FFMs it's always Eva. As I said before somewhere else, they're top notch in Biz now. 5 yrs ago I thought bumping up from Deluxe wasn't worth it. Now there's a big difference from Elite. The food in Elite is the same as coach (real bad) and they're stingy with the alcohol. Eva's miles used to expire (not sure if they still do) so I got in the habit of bumping up on the Pacific leg on the depressing ride home (30K miles or so). IMO they're right up there with any Asian carrier in Biz. As far as the LAX-BKK flight, I'll give a full report. What the f*** I'm going to do in BKK at 6am is my biggest question. Maybe head to Spicey or the Tunnel for stragglers ? wj

I was just looking airfare for a friend. This is for October mind you, but Singapore is having a special right now and the tickets are less than $700 all combined to Bangkok from LAX. I would not take the flight, but if you are poor and have some spare time (unemployed) it might be a viable option. It can be found on their website.

Has anyone taken the TG flight non-stop from LAX to BKK? Any feedback? I am starting to think it is a viable alternative over EVA for just US$ 200 more (US$ 1,500 versus 1,300 for premium economy/elite).
StrayG, I have not flown Eva Elite for close to two years. I did like it as a cheaper/lower version of buz class. I understand that since then they have changed it a bit. Reading some reviews, some people complaint, but reading the actual facts about the seat, it looks fine to me.
To those who have flown both Eva and CI between the USA and BKK, how do they compare to each other?

Humm! Idle morning time? catch the LT GoGos from Nana goin home by Suk Soi4.... find a stranded 6 freelancer at the bus stop sleeping or food vendor lady to give you morning lub lub.... just stay at the Suv and tease the ticket girls for awhile till Eden awakes!

Wacky will take the Thai Air LAX-BKK run shortly.... flight duration, arrival noted above..... was wondering about the premium econ sets also...images and map layout of the Airbus on Thai Air site.... my other local work bros said to high still, havent tried
As to Eva and China, flown EVA once econ though, China too many times B and E seats..... its the cattle call weekends Fri Sat Sun on the way back that are terrible.... planes are packed to the gills... mon-thur best times to fly, have space to breathe and psych back down to non Thai P4P reality !
