Asian Man,my less than confident prediction is that the $US will weaken against the Baht over the next 2 months, but not by more than 1 to 1.5 baht.

Well: Here's the review of the LAX-BKK direct flight I took recently. I start off at SFO and while waiting for my flight to LA I try to access the United Lounge and am denied because of a lack of gold status. Mind you I'm flying 1st class ! (note to self - cut up those f***ing United credit cards) Nondescript flight to LAX enough time for 1 G & T. Arrive LAX and must walk the length of the airport (3/4 mile) to the shithole they call their International Terminal. This place would be a disgrace in Lagos Nigeria. Long lines in security, confusing spraypainted signage, no seating and plywood everywhere. Here they let me in the Starwood lounge which was the worst airport lounge I've ever seen. Only thing edible - instant noodles. It's got free beer though and someplace to sit. Still pretty shabby. Once on board everything changes. A couple glasses of champagne and I'm not pissed off anymore. I'm in Royal Silk (Biz) and you get the new standard Biz seat which doesn't quite go flat. It's got about 20 possible adjustments and is perfectly comfortable. The rear seat in flight entertainment has maybe 40 movies, as well as TV, and video games. I was a nice way to go. My only bitches; the stews were there most senior I suppose, and not at all attractive. (you wouldn't see these hags on Sing) and surprisingly the food was lousy. Good wine selections (French) for an airline and they keep coming by with that Remy XO, thank God. Combined with an Ativan and antihistamine, I woke up for brekkie about 2 hours before landing at 6 am. The economy-deluxe (or whatever) seats looked pretty roomy. About the same as EVA Elite. Same on return except The Thai Lounge at BKK is great and this time United let me in the Red Carpet Lounge (not the 1st class) at LAX. No food, no beer, no soft drinks. Coffee and water. $7 for a gin and tonic. (f*** this I'm flying 1st). All and all recommended only if you're from LA. If you've got a connecting flight, you're too long in 1 plane, you don't save any time, you got to schlep your shit 3/4 mile, deal with a 3rd world terminal, and you've got to work with f***ing United, whose service is modeled after Soviet era Aeroflot.

Mayor Tom Bradley Los Angeles International Airport !

Yep the dammed place is always under construction ! and like most Siberian airports drab bleak !
LAX airport code should be renamed to LACKS ! as in everything or AUC always under construction ! with shitty planned ques and corridors.

StarWood lounge ! no for u !.... Uniteds Star Alliance been rippin us off for years.... friends fly to no where multi stop airports then back just to pick up more miles and get better rates. Anymore Southwest or Alaska for me! SFO still best on west coast for ammenities and flight schedules.

Shoulda just stayed in nicer SFO outbound > EVA Elite....
Non Stop by Concorde SST ? Mach 2.2 or 1450 mi/hr... take 5-6 hours flight time; nice dream out of service !

Airline Ratings Survey !

http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/travel/2009-11-24-zagatair24_ST_N.htm

Top 3 Airlines - Flights within the USA !
Midwest, Virgin America, JetBlue

Top 3 Airlines - International flights !
Singapore, Emirates, Air New Zealand

survey didn't include Eva or China Air which provide many flights 2x daily to Asia for good prices....

Last Oct China Air trip...SFO - BKK paid $725 total....plus received my milage.... outbound SFO-TPE sucked.... flew in older 747 got bumped down in out of exit row to sorry back end cramped seat; no resting here or portable media player- damm plane was overbooked.... BKK-TPE bumped up to business class least had a good nap and breakfast.... inbound BKK-TPE bumped up to 1st class due to overbooking, after the VIP lounge goodies post Thai P4P and partying, was very comfortable with tasty drinks and food service.... TPE-BKK least got a empty row of exit/wall seats to lounge in - good resting here with space for the longer legs... econo food always sucks

So far for me - EVAs Delux the way to go to BKK !... Southwest and Alaska great for the west coast states !

Thai and Singapore Air has limited flights.... still hate TPE airport.... way too old school ! much like 1950s CCCP Siberian decorum..... even BKKs SUV has a great 2nd and 3rd floor vendors lounge about

thai is one of those annoying airlines that promotes crew on service so ironically in first class u get the old girls been there 10+ years and all the hot young sweet things are in economy

not like that on sg or ek - all the girls are hot and can be in f class in less than 2 years

United Airlines is the same way (not that they offer anything approaching good service, mind you, no matter how "hot" the FA is...)

I fly Cathay Pacific, New York to BKK via Hong Kong. The layover is around 1 1/2 hours. The planes are clean and the crew is tops.

The cost runs between 800-1,250 U S Dollars depending on time of year. I am a diamond member so I am upgraded about 50% of the time. But even in economy the service is great. The seats are in a shell, so if the person in front of you puts his/her seat back, it will not take away from your feet space etc.

If you fly international several times a year, try and use the same carrier. After awhile you will be treated as a VIP and receive many benefits such as first class lounge priviliges and upgrades.

If only that happened on Thai !!! A definate no no with Thai when flying from Europe. Even on a recent domestic from Phuket to BK, I was sitting in economy on a 747 (which is often used for this route), and I asked if I could sit in Business which was about 80% empty, as I am a Gold Member. It was like I was asking to f*** her daughter the way she looked at me shaking her head - a total, ignorant lack of understanding of customer service and ignorance of what the customer expects from an airline....

romeland:

I personally find Cathay (CX) very friendly, yet professional. As mentioned in my previous posts the seats are quite comfortable, and the service is excellent. I flew many times with TG and have to tell you, I was disappointed at every level.
