I have met several Thai girls here in san francisco. all were here attending school. Some SF state. some english languauge schools. From talking to them I would guess most are probably middle class thais although it sounded like one was having everything paid by someone here. anyone get a TG a K-3 Visa to be enrolled in a English language school?

Good news today! My case has been APPROVED! Now before you all get too excited, what this means is that they have finished a review of my paperwork and it is in order. I think now they start the investigation process. But I'm not 100% sure. Hello brothers....What happens next? Who knows?

Teacher, they send the application package to the National Visa Center (NVC). Tha application has been adjudicated at this point. The Homeland Defense is the approving authority. The embassy must process it. The embassy can only recommend a denial with strong eveidence.
It takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks for the npacvkage to get to the NVC from the Regional Service Center. Then the NVC will do some processing and then send it to the country embassy. They will send you a notice when that happens.
At the embassy, they will send her a Packet 3. That has the forms she needs to process at the embassy. She should sign the checklist and do the -280[???] ASAP as she can not get on the list for the visa interview until those two pieces are done. She does not need to send any other documents to the embassy. She will take them on her interview day.
Be aware the Bangkok embassy currently has a 10-12 week backlog, per their website - http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/services/visa/k1.htm.

Teacher, send your TGF to the Embassy to pick up packet 3 now. They will give packet 3 on request. Start getting all required docuements now and complete all forms. Forms and instructions will be in both Thai and English. When your petition clears NVC, have her go to Embassy with DS-230 & Checklist. She can now schedule interview date (about 12 weeks out). Do this even though you may not have everything. If you have everything by interview date OK. This will cut down leadtime.
My Thai wife turned in checklist, DS-230, and scheduled interview before having medical exam.

Cal Eden, yep, just sign what they need and then get what you signed you had. Get your Affadaviot of Support going also. she will need that for the interview.
Amazing part is the need for the same documents and information again....its this pissing contest the Dept of State and Department of Home land Defense have over visas.... Bottom line is the Dept of State wants approval authority BUt that resides within the Department of Homeland Security. apparently an old grudge between INS and Dept of State.
Is it true they will give the packet 3 without receiving the visa package from the NVC?
