I think that was caused by some spent O2 generators that were being sent back (unlawfully) to the maintenance HQ, or was that another of the cheap airline crashes...

yes very good deal.

but not very good if you hab to become howard clark member....lol

just like newspapers who advertise a low price but you can never actually get that price.

Harold,

I've been meaning to reply to your above comment but for some reason never got around to it. First, there is no need to become a Clark Howard member to take advantage of the deals. The guy is a Consumer Advocate who works at a radio station in Atlanta. He is worth over 15 million dollars. Funny story his wife just had a baby and he parks 1/2 mile from the hospital to avoid a $6 charge for parking. He gives new meaning to the word "CheapCharlie". Anyway, you can always browse his travel section by just going to http://www.clarkhoward.com and clicking on Travel. No need to be a member. Second, most of the airline deals you see advertised in the papers and on websites have restrictions such as leave on such and such a day and return on this day and stay this long. Also, all airfare deals do not include taxes and other fees. Currently an International ticket can be as much as $200 dollars more with fees and taxes.

Despite the recent Chapter 11 status, NWA is still a decent option for those traveling from the US. So far the strike and the recorganization haven't interfered with their flights. If anything, it will mean the flights are less crowded. It's not the way I go when my company is picking up the tab, but when I have to foot the bill myself, about $620 all-in is a good trip for NYC-BKK-NYC. Except for the direct JFK-BKK flight, it gets me to LOS as fast as any other flight, if total ravel time is considred. It takes me 20 minutes to get to EWR and 90 minutes to JFK, plus check-in and security almost always go faster at EWR. So for any punters on the Jersey side of the Hudson, NWA is a very good option aslong as the promotional prices continue.

I think NWA is cancelling their JFK-bkk flight as of Oct 1.

Yes, I knew about that, but it is the JFK-Narita flight that is being canceled.. The flight I'm booked on goes from EWR (Newark Liberty) to Minneapolis, then change planes for flight to Narita, then Narita BKK. The non-stop JFK-Narita flight wasn't ever much of an option for me (using that flight to get to BKK would only cost slightly less than Thai's non-stop JFK-BKK). And the time it takes for me to reach JFK would negated the attraction of the non-stop NWA to Narita. The flights utilizing the MSN-Narita leg are the ones which are heavily discounted.

NWA is offering promotional prices for flights between USA and BKK from January 15, 2006, onwards. I just booked and paid for a R/T flight nid-Jan to early Feb between Newark (NJ) and BKK for $764 including all taxes and fees (flight was $705 plus $59 in some fee). A good price, considering the Chinese Spring Festival (lunar new year) usually crowds all trans-Pacific flights around that time. I stick with Northwest as much as possible because my Elite Frequent Flyer status always gets me "premium" seating and usually an upgrade to Biz Class. In terms of service, NWA certainly isn't my favorite airline and the arrival/departure times at/from BKK are less than ideal, but there are solid reasons for using it both for business and leisure trips to LOS.
