The very same "space saving" bags can be found in Bangkok for 20 baht each (3 bags for 60 baht) They work good but overtime they tend to fill again with air, so they are OK for travelling and not so good for longer storage Madfrog

Happy Johnny.... What brand of "ultra light & tough Kevlar bag" do you use? My favorite carry-on bag is getting old...

Neuasot - The bag I use is suitable for "cabin size". It is fairly basic and was purchased from a discount variety store in Australia called "Big W". These outlets are a bit like Walmarts. Not sure what the material of the bag is actually made out of - but it is very strong and very light - probably weighs about 100grams - and has survived one 17,000 km round trip (through 6 airports) without a scratch. Next time I am in the store I will take a closer look - if I can glean any more info on brand etc - I will pass this on...

My only tip would be to pack the 'right' cloths. Everything I carry dries quickly, except for the stuff made of wool, and that has other beneficial properties. I have pants and shorts from Ex-officio, that are look good and are made of a quick drying fabric. I visit local thrift stores and look for thin and light weight fabrics in shirts that will dry quickly. Arrow wrinkle free shirts are perfect for this, 60% poly 40% cotton. I've found some other shirts this way that are just incredible, they hang dry in a matter of hours. For underwear, I find ex-officio good, but I have also been using Ibex 17.5 micron merino wool. The merino wool is not only the most comfortable stuff but it doesn't start to stink as quick as cotton or poly. On my last trip I only wore underwear in the evenings and managed to wear the same pair for 10 days before washing, and they did not smell. For socks I also only wear merino wool, Teco's in this case. Once again they do not smell and are good for a couple wears between wearings. So, I carry one pants, one shorts, two undershorts, three shirts, two pair socks. And that will last me forever. I wash my cloths every night in the hotel bathroom. This is quick and simple. To speed up drying I roll the washed stuff up in a towel and walk on it to get more moisture out. This works 95% or the time and in the morning everything is dry, including the merino wool. Shoes are the only downfall as I have yet to find a single pair that covers all of my activities yet looks fashionable. Up to this point I have elected to take function over form, but I think there are some Puma tennis shoes that will look more formal, yet also be functional. Toiletries take up a good bit of room as I enjoy my own lotions and creams rather than Thai versions. Then maybe a book or two and some condoms, thats about it. All together I what I carry takes about 1/2 the space of a school kids back pack and weighs less than 4 kgs.

That is remarkably light packing, Bob. If you were to travel while wearing parachute pants, you could simply pack all your necessities in the multiple pant pockets, and leave the burdensome backpack at home. However light you pack, no gentleman should ever travel without a velvet codpiece. It keeps my cock warm, and looks stunning. http://www.thecastlecloset.com/i/AccessoriesOthe/Codpiece.jpg
