On this trip, I got to Sukhumvit from the airport for 320 baht(including tolls and airport exit fee). He did not ask if I wanted to take the expressway.
On the previous trip, I think it cost at least 100 baht more. This is why I think I was getting screwed on the fare.

Sunday in a cab is a breeze from Sukhumvit. I've done it from home (soi 31) many a time on Sunday in 25/30 mins regardless of time of day. If you are travelling on a Monday it will be a different story unless you are flying late evening when the traffic is light.

I will try the Train this time, and let me see how it is. This is again, if my luggage is light. Most of the time I end up with a heavy suitcase plus hand baggage, duty free bags. I must practice now travelling light.

Last Sunday I brought (from Pattaya) a friend to the Airport.
Instead of taking a taxi back home I tried out the Express Makkasan train (my residence is behind Makkasan station) at 9pm.
Around 12 fellow passagers in the whole train. Made the trip in exactly 16 minutes. 90 baht.
All in all a terrific experience.
