Sorry, but I am referring to
Thai or asian women getting a tourist visa (from their native land)to visit Ýeither OZ or Korea, ie A Thai girl going to the Oz Consular/Immigration in Bkk and wanting to visit Sydney.
I too am surprised about the Thai getting into the USA so easily. Reason being, one of my USA friends in Seoul married a Korean girl (after working here for 2 years). She was from good stock.
He then applied for a marriage visa for her as he was going back to work in the USA and had to wait 14 months before she was granted a marriage visa to join him over in the ÝUSA.
He was a Texan and he was really pissed, as he too went to his Congressman but couldn't get anywhere.
Just goes to show the inconsistancies in the systems and the perception that some immigration departments have about SAG.

HELLO ALL,
well i just recently came back from a trip to the U.S. with my tgf and it took me three days to get a visa not as long as i thought... the way it works is
1. you go to the embassy with all documents needed.
2. the lady at the window outside reveiws the docs she tells you if your missing anything and then you are handed a stub with a date and time to come back..
3. when you come back they will have your passport waiting but may tell you that you need to come back for an interveiw with a embassy official.
4 when you do come back for the interveiw the official may ask you a wide range of questions...i.e. how long do you plan to stay? who are you going to go visit?
who will sponsor you ( BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS) while you are there?
at this point he will make the decision to give you the visa or not.. my g/f got her visa because :
1. i am a u.s. citizen and i was going with her
2. i gureenteed that she would come back.. how?? well a letter from my employer and me..
3. i agreed to make sure that she comes back to the embassy to check in by a certain date..
all in all it wasn't that difficult...

so the whole idea that he works for the embassy so that is how he got it for her is total b/s!!!<<
and also some of those ladies that work the visa windows are pretty hot!!

A lucky example only, but it doesn't explain what happened to LS, his legit TG or my friends Korean wife?
As to your referrence "BS", one example proves nothing. Those who work in the Oz Immigration/Consular Departments do get preferential treatment, you would have to be a f_cken fool to think otherwise.
I have wittnessed many times, consular & immmigration families taking their Indonesian maids Ýback to OZ during the school holidays to care for their children (the maids buy the way have f_ckall money, a poorly paid job and f_ck anyone for a $)."Ever seen a maid in first class wearing a $5 little white uniform, - Well I have: on Qantas", and not just one time. Yet a legit SAF cannot get a tourist visa. - Explain this bias.
Whilst I cant comment on USA approach, its a common bias wthin the OZ departments.
The USA may consider your letter of guarrantee, but try that approach with the Kr or OZ and its meaningless - see if you get out the airport. Goes on the applicants merit not the travelling partner.

From the Vice Consular, U.S. Embassy, Bangkok, Thailand.
This was mailed to my congressman who forwarded the letter to me.
"An American, nor anyone else for that matter, cannot take responsibility for an applicant. ÝEach applicant is assessed on his or her own merits. ÝThere is no document that can be signed or bond put up in order to ensure the return of an applicant to Thailand. ÝYour constituent should also understand that, while we are in no way questioning the credibility of his promise to support Ms. XXXXXX while in the U.S., that promise cannot substitute for strong ties to Thailand."
I appreciate all the feedback on this posting. ÝI've told her to wait a bit and maybe when I arrive in BKK in October we will go to the embassy together. ÝWhile I certainly will not raise a stink I will certainly feel a little more entitled to speak my mind as an American. ÝMaybe they will make ME stay in Thailand. Ý
