The problem with our german transrapid is, that it's good enough for other countries, but the show flopped in germany concerning the cost and the inefficiency of this project !!!

I live in Osaka Japan and the New kansai INternational airport is built on man made island about 60-90 min. away from tne domestic itami airport and the japanese gov.is not concerned about your inconvinence.

Suvarnabhumi Airport opening - June '06

Bangkok's new Suwarnabhumi international airport will open for commercial operations in June of next year at the earliest and October at the latest,
Transport Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisal said Thursday.
The definite opening schedule will depend on inspections progress by the International Civil Aviation Organization, Pongsak added.
Last year, the government was confident that the new Suvarnabhumi Airport would open in the current month of September 2005, but several
operating systems and a surrounding roads network have not been completed.

I wonder how the transition from the old to the new airport will happen.
I remember what happened when Hong Kong closed Kia Tak and moved to Chep Lap Kok over night, this was a military style operation with all the major roads being closed so a lot of stuff could be moved to the new airport in less than 8 hours, could Thailand manage such a project?

Sure they could!
But instead of closing all the roads down from 2200 to 0600 on a Saturday night, they will have the roads closed from 0800-1600 on a Friday.

Kansai International Airport has a train station on a lower level of the terminal just a few minutes walking distance from the arrivals lounge. I don't know if it goes to the domestic Osaka airport, but the train goes straight to Osaka in about 10-15 minutes, and then on to Kyoto (with a few stops in-between). Very nice and very convenient.
