Canadian's fatal plunge a suicide, say police

A Canadian man yesterday plunged from the fourth storey of Suvarnabhumi Airport and died in what police say was a suicide.
Quoting eyewitnesses, police said Raymond Mark Campbell,64, got out of a taxi and pushed his cargo cart to the arrival lounge on the fourth and top floor. He climbed over the fence and jumped to the ground floor. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital from traumatic injuries.
Immigration information showed that Campbell entered Thailand on January 16 and booked his flight out on March 22.
He later changed his travel to yesterday and went to the airport. Police have theorised he intended to kill himself. They have notified the Canadian embassy and begun the process for relatives to claim his body.

Seems real strange that he would go to the trouble of changing his flight home if he intended to kill himself.
I speculate his wife actually found out where he was, and insisted he return immediately, then at the airport he felt it was easier to just kill himself then and there, rather than deal with her when he got home, and maybe he spent all their money coming over. Just my speculation that it was a spur of the moment decision, and had no pre-planned intention, until he got to the airport, and thought about it. That's a lot more plausible.

It's likely his theory has some truth.
Could be worse.
But seemed he had the weight of the world on his mind.
He might of chosen a big building.( instead)
The height doesn't finalise a clean death.
He would have been better off begging forgiveness and insuring wife and drowning her at a secluded beach then returning on the payout to enjoy more life here.

Suvarnabhumi Airport on alert

Three thermoscan inspection points are in place at Suvarnabhumi Airport as the nation gets ready for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).
Phet Chancharoen, director of Airport Department, Suvarnabhumi Airport, said that the inspections have started since June 2. Medical supports are also ready.
Today, the airport officials had a meeting with disease control officials.
Thai health officials confirmed there is zero MERS case in Thailand but the country is on alert for travellers from risk countries. Officers stand by at Muang Thong Thani where some 4,000 Korean nationals are attending a conference.

The longest ever visa-on-arrival queue I have ever seen in Bangkok. Last Saturday it zigzagged around a dozen times inside the main VOA hall, then stretched out long into the outer hall upto the Cotto toilets when I joined the queue. It took 3 hours before I cleared immigration. Which, considering the hopelessly long queue, seemed good in retrospect. Over the years the VOA process has been gradually speeded up, but this was a stunning reversal. There was no fast track queue either. Wonder what's going on there.
