You mean this China Airlines?
Yep, just a matter of time for the usual whiner with an axe to grind against CI to come out of the woodwork...

Just like your axe to grind against Cathay and Emirates?

Spoken like a true hypocrite.

I must have missed the part where I jump into every thread remotely connected, sowing FUD with links to airline disasters? As I stated, it's been discussed at nauseam, but since you are too dumb to UTFSE:

- Cathay's economy has less legroom, and less seat width than the other airlines listed. China has very comfortable legroom and seat width in economy.

Axe to grind with Emirates? Great airline, but hearing cabin announcements in Farsi is not my cup of tea, as it invariably sounds like someone is strangling an arab (Arabic, on the other hand, sounds nicely melodic).

So, how many fear-inducing posts of China Airlines air disasters have you posted, in comparison?

I would think the TPE Taipei to BKK Bangkok flights will keep running as the plane flys onto LHR London. The London legs is mostly full and even overbooked.

As for the China Airlines debate, some people get it muddled up with a mainland china outfit with a similar name. Both Eva Air and China Airlines are Taiwanese owned, Eva is part of the Evergreen shipping group.

I have flown CI econ Taipei to Hong Kong a short hop flight and found them OK, but preferred to book Eva to get the airmiles up. use the Deluxe section and cos my company was part of the group so we got consessions!!! Also the timing was good in that we could catch the evening flight from TPE and arrive in BKK in time to get a beer in the hand and a bird on the knee well before closing time.

And I have?

As I stated, it's been discussed at nauseam, but since you are too dumb to UTFSE:

That's nothing but a bullshit argument. My challenging of your personal views doesn't make me dumb nor does it have anything to do with my willingness to use search engines.

Cathay's economy has less legroom, and less seat width than the other airlines listed. China has very comfortable legroom and seat width in economy.

No argument there.

Axe to grind with Emirates? Great airline, but I hearing cabin announcements in Farsi is not my cup of tea, as it invariably sounds like someone is strangling an arab (Arabic, on the other hand, sounds nicely melodic).

Emirates has decent legroom but not good seat width. If you're tall they're fine, if you're fat they suck.

So, how many fear-inducing posts of China Airlines air disasters have you posted, in comparison?

It's not about fear; it's about spending my money responsibly. Dying in an air disaster is an extremely remote possibility no matter who you fly, but rewarding companies that don't take consumer safety as seriously as they should doesn't sit well with me at all. As more years pass without a major disaster China Airlines has a yet another chance show they're doing better, but the record going back to the 1970's tends to show a surprisingly avoidable major disaster every few years. If we're talking about a massive airline like AA or AF, then that's one thing, but China Airlines has far too many accidents for its size.

For all I'm concerned, China Airlines provides excellent service for good rates, and has a good safety record on international flights.

...and, for what it's worth, when you say "It's not about fear", I call that bullshit -- if your response to the mere mention of China Airlines is posting a movie of a fiery explosion of a CI plane, then that's all you are doing - sowing fear, with no concern for rational arguments.

Well boys, Sept. 28, flying out of LA on a brandy new 777. First time with EVA, so I have high hopes.

My gripes about China Air could go on for pages, suffice it to say I've come that close to punching out a couple of air-clowns in the past, on general principle violations, and for being complete and utter racist bastards in particular.

Flight attendants have, in the past bent over me to serve the Chinese person without an excuse me or anything, have laughed in my face when my tv console was broken, and otherwise engaged in all manner of passive aggressive bullshit.

My policy with China Air has been on these delightful flights, has been to make damn sure the attendant light goes on at approximately the same time the flight attendant who just turned off the previous one I lighted is as far away as possible. A couple hours worth of this with my shit eating smile for "extra ice", "another blanket", a "cup of noodles", and on and on, gets my point across.

Anyways, one more LAX to Bkk and back and I've got enough miles for a free R T so I can't bitch too much, and they have been for the most part the cheapest.

Mad Frog, how you say it..... Say La Vee? Thanks France!

Right now Cathay Pacific is the cheapest out of LA, or SF considering everthing, and much nicer flight than any of the others right now.

The only time I have used China air was one of the scariest flights ever!!!
Was flying from Hanoi to NaNning, a 50 minute flight, confusing from the beginning because I was to arrive before I left????? Bloody time zones.
Anyway we are coming into land and about 20 metres off the tarmac the pilot GUNS it,, swerves hard right and up up and away,,, FARK whats going on,, ni sa mattta ta,,, ni can ni mattay,, I don't speak a word of Chinese ( except hello),,,, took 20 minutes before I finally found out some Chinese business man had turned on his mobile phone and the cock-pit instruments has been effected ??? well that was the story I finally got.
Of cause I don't hold this against the airline but would love to get my hands on that phone turn on guy!!!!
Scared the shit out of me.
Another good story,, sorry it's not on China air,, but was waiting to board Qantas flight home,, inter-com says,, unfortunately we have a mechanical problem with the aircraft ( wings falling off ? engine blowing black smoke? ) and to expect a 2 hour delay,,, ahhhh shit,,, free drink and meal coupons will be supllied at the gate. Fark, two hours more sitting around,,mai pen rai,, anyway about half an hour later saw a farang chatting with a Thai who was wearing a maintenance type uniform and he found out the mechanical problem was a "blocked toilet", . We took off 45 minutes delayed.
