Don: I just throw everything together in one bottle. Valium, ibuprofen, aspirin, claritin, codeine, xanax, immodium, etc. Never had a problem, even with US Customs. Who the hell knows what's what ? The customs guy would need a PDR and that might not help on the Asian generics. When coming back from SE Asia they seem to be looking for Heroin and kiddie porn. wj

Wow, all this w/o a scrip, you're a braver man then me, plus it's not just U.S. customs that concerns me as my connecting flight goes through Taipei, where they have the banners hanging all over the airport

generally my experience is that customs are looking for drug smugglers that are carrying qty for resale. Bringing in personal use scrip meds is not the same.
I have a scrip for Vicodin which I get filled in the US however it is illegal here. I once had customs look at my bags but since it was my scrip, it was a non-issue and I had 2 bottles with 200 tabs each.
Being overly cautious is good however loosing sleep over it is not.
I have a different opinion from WJ on picking it up here. If you can get it legally in the US then just put it in your carry on and bring it. For starters, you have the scrip bottle so you can prove it is yours. Picking up these here can be a hit-miss proposition as there are lots of fakes on the market and meds of questionable quality.

My experience with customs is they'll be more than happy to bust you for anything they possibly can
I got out my local phone book and found several sleep dis-order Dr.s, one of which I hope will put aside their ethical bullshit and help me go the legitimate route, a supply of 30mg valium would work for me
I just can't tolerate those hellish 15 hour plane rides anymore
I agree about different quality of product in LOS, some pharmacys diazapan is quite good, some not

Sure, you catch the wrong agent on the wrong day and life sucks at that moment. However, if you have prescribed medication there is almost no way they will do anything. It's yours, it's legal they will 99.9% of the time let it go.
For any meds I have that are not prescribed, I also do what WJ does...throw a few of whatever in a tiny bottle with vitamins, tylenol, etc, that will be enough for the trip. Never had that stuff looked at.
In the end, you have to be comfortable with whatever you do... No point in worrying about what will happend in the unlikely event your bags get tagged for inspection. Pretty much defeats the purpose of the medication.
Yes, I use to have some serious pain issue (lower back). Now I use a deep needle style acupuncture that has helped alot and I rarely use the vics now except for long flights and the occasional party

if you go to a U.S. doctor, there are 3 meds that I would personally recomend.
1) Ambien. Fast actiong, short lif ein the body. Problem is I find it does not keep me sleeping all night.
2) Restoril. Delivers a knock out punch but once again I do not get a full night sleep.
3) Xanax. the 1 mg pill knocks me out, remains in my system a long time which leaves me foggy in the morning. Perfect for a long haul flight.
One last thing I like is Nyquil. Over the counter and you can take them in liquid pill form for you don't have to worry about the 3 ounce limit at the airport.
I personally like to take Ambien sublingual (I put a 10mg pill under my toungue, let it disolve and it hits the system very fast. I combine that with a shot of Nyquil and it's good night Thailife.

Don: Hate to say it, but I think you've got 'the paranoia shit' already. You really think they're going to bust an American in TPE for a couple Vals & Vikes ? I've been through there more than a dozen times and the only times I was searched was 7 years ago when they had no f***ing idea what an ipod was. I get flagged every time back to the US and never once did they go through my pills. Shit all you need are a couple. You're not even staying in Taiwan. If you want to worry, remember the announcement when the plane touches down in BKK; "the penalty for smuggling drugs or guns is DEATH "You're talking like a cocaine mule with a kilo kiestered. I've never gotten ant bunk drugs in SE Asia. (Well maybe a kamagra gel or 2, not sure) Pm me if you need an honest pharmacist in BKK wj

You play the game the way you like, last time leaving Tapei I was directed to a secondary inspection area where some kind of a customs bitch went through my bags while another moron looked on
I'm not saying they will assembly a firing squad for a small time offense such as a pill with no scrip, but I don't want to take risks at my stage in life, I've pushed the boundaries to many times, not just in Asia, it's to easy just to go to a Dr. and be confident you trip will be hassle free
Thanks for your offer concerning a BKK pharmacist, sometimes I like to get high while in LOS, 10mg valium are my prefrence
