Yes. Take for example the case of Singapore Airlines. As recent as last month its YQ charges (YQ is the code to denote the fuel surcharge) were:
SIN-KUL $40
SIN-CGK $40
SIN-HKG $21.90
SIN-CMB $100
But what are the YK from SIN-BKK as well as HKG-BKK?
YK? It is zero as there is no charge for "International Airport Passenger Charge" from Ukraine between either SIN and BKK or HKG and BKK.
YQ in SQ for SIN-BKK sector was US$ 30 as recent as 2 months ago. In CX it was USD 16 between HKG and BKK. Note: some airlines show the fuel surcharge as YR instead of YQ.
Those who really want to learn more about fuel surchages, perhaps will find interesting this 2007 paper titled "An evaluation of fuel surcharges and the degree to which they compensate airlines for increased fuel costs."

west/east are qouting £810 q class but the thai air site online is £673 WTF
SIA Site a380 lhr-sin airbus 777 sin bkk return £780
thing are getting tough tee rak
going to go less often but for longer

from HNL to BKK on china airlines = $950 (cheapest I could find)  ended up using my FF miles from HNL to Narita,stay a few days then used Expedia to find cheapest airfare out NRT to BKK. Morning flight was going for $735 but jumped periodically to $1,500 on any given day.  dunno why...but due to preparedness I knew prices dropped it's lowest 8-10wks out and 4-5wks out from departure date...so checked on day after it dropped from $1,500 to $750 waited another few days and in the evening checked again,same flight was $550. bought it and now on my way! yeeehaww!

Looks like Cathay Pacific is the latest airline to cut back its flights from the US, due to slacking demand and high fuel costs. Starting October 26th, they will eliminate their afternoon flight to HK. I'm sure this will jam their evening flights, as the afternoon ticket holders will have to be re-booked. If you are on their evening flight, you might want to check-in a bit earlier than normal.
I know many of you fly Cathay from LAX to BKK, so I figured I'd mention it.

THAI's further fuel surcharge reduction
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited has introduced further reductions to its fuel surcharge for its domestic and international routes in addition to a previous announced cut in October
Pandit Chanapai, THAI's Executive Vice President, Commercial Department announces that effective from November 6, there will be a further reduction on average of 30% on all international routes, while the fuel surcharge on THAI's domestic routes will be lowered to Bt700 from Bt750 per flight.
THAI and the Tourism Authority of Thailand and others tourism sector have joined force to carry out massive advertising and publicity campaign to demonstrate that Thailand continues to be a superlative travel destination. The further reduction of fuel surcharge will support Thailand's tourism by motivating inbound traffic and increase number of overseas visitors to all part of the country during the peak period.
Improvements have been made on all aspects of customer service to appeal not only to premium class but to economy class passengers as well, said.
