Today my GF received the Packet 3 from the American Embassy in Thailand. The process however slow is moving along. We will go to the embassy in two weeks when I get to BKK and make the appointment for the interview. The lead time for appointments is 10-12 weeks. I will be back in BKK in Dec. and will make the appointment for then. So far everything has gone just as the brothers on the forum said it would. I would like to thank all the members that helped me to this point in the process. I feel I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The latest news.......
#1. The DS-230
As many members have mentioned to me, once you get the Packet 3 ( which contains a bunch of forms. DS-230, DS-156, DS-156k, DS-157, the affidavit of support, the medical interview paperwork and instructions in Thai and English) You can fill out the DS-230, turn it into the embassy and schedule your interview. No passport or other paperwork is required to set up the interview. Do this as soon as possible. On Sept. 9th they were scheduling appts. for the 2nd of Dec. (10-12 weeks out) I made my GF's appt for the 20 of Dec. when I will be in BKK.
#2. The Passport.
Between the airport and Bangkok lies the city of Chaeng Wattahna and the Ministry of Forieng Affairs. AKA the place where your GF can get a passport in about one hour. All she needs is her ID card and about 1000 Baht. Oh ya....one other problem. She needs to be at least 20 years old. Now my GF is not 20 yet, she will be some day, so we had to get a form signed by her parents and notarized by an elected official. We were told that the elected official in Bangko (My GF lives in Bangko, NOT Bangkok, which is 3 hours north of Uttaradit. 10 friggin hours north of Bangkok.) works on Sat. morning and that the passport people would not take a fax of the document. So OK 10 hour bus ride to see mom and dad. I have been before so I know it sucks. We arrive Fri. night. Did I mention no A/C at mom and dad's house? Sat morning the Elected official does not come to work he is off at a corruption and grafft convention. So no paper. Now I would stay until monday except I have a resevation at a hotel in BKK for Sunday night and I don't like Bangko...No A/C. So Daddy says he will get the paper and come to bangkok by bus on Tues. morning. GREAT. Tuesday Morning Papa comes and we are off to Chaeng Wattahna for the Passport. Did I mention we had to pick Daddy up at the bus terminal at 6 frickin AM. Crap. We get to the passport place and apparently Mama has not signed the form the same way she signed her ID card. Now Mama is in Bangko which as you know by now is 10 fricken hours away. So no passport. Now Papa decides he will go back to Bangko and redo the form with the correct signature and come back to Bangkok on Fri morning. Which he does and we get the Passport. Did I mention I had to get up again at 6 friggin AM to pick Papa up at the Bus terminal......Argh
Time for my flight to SFO on Singapore Airlines. I'll do more on the doctor visit and police report after I get back to USA.

Doctor's visit is easy. Just use the Bamrungrad Hospital and pick Dr. Prapaporn Phimphilai, (02) 667-1000. female doctor. She was polite. They say 1,400 baht - pretty close depending on vaccinations given. You can schedule an early morning appointment - don't follow their "just walk in advice." If hers is at 8 AM, you might consider setting her up in a hotel the night before. It worked out well as she had a great breakfast (what TG will refuse...) and she was rested before the examination.
Make note that she must have photos for the medical examination. They are different size than for Packet 3/4 visa application. The packet has clear instructions on visa and hospital/police photo requirements.
At the end of the medical examination, they will provide her the x-rays in a large envelope. Keep safe for interview.
Have her get all vaccinations that she can. If enough time, get her started on her Hepititis-B. She might feel a bit ill overnight and sore arms but since she is already there and its cheap, might as well get them done. Besides, they seem to feel good about getting that stuff done.
She will be rescheduled to come back for the TB Time test reading but that can be looked at any local hospital. The doctor that does the reading must sign a couple places on her medical forms, so make sure to take them.
When she goes for her physical examination, have her go pay the $100 (in baht) at the post office and DON"T lose the receipt... Use the Post Office closest to the US Embassy - right behind it and close to the hospital. She can grab some lunch on the way after her examination.

(The easiest to access as it is the closest to the visa section. It closes at 2:30 pm)
Police check is another easy one. Their number and address is supplied in the packet. Just go over, submit the short application for check, give them required photo, and wait. They say 2-3 weeks but just call and check for its completion. They finish them usually within 2 weeks.

Okay John,
So you did all the work for me. We did use Dr. Porn, however my GF did not get Hep B shot or TB test. She got Mumps, Measeles, Rubella and Tetnis, Typhoid and Dipthyeria. I think. Doctor Porn said to get the second Measeles shot in 4 to 6 weeks but said nothing about having a reading for a TB Tine test.
